No you do not. The hotel will just block of a certain number of rooms for your guests to reserve. As they fill up and if oyu need more they will block out more for you. I talked our hotel into throwing in a king suite complimentary for us on our wedding night too. You'll be surprised if you ask for stuff what you can get. But no need to worry, you don't pay for any of your guests rooms :)
No you don't pay for it. You just call the hotel to get a room block for your OOT guests so that you can get a discount. Just put the hotel info in your invites so your guest know that you have blocked rooms.
Oh thank God, I was so worried we wouldn't be able to afford it seeing as most of our guest are OOT.
We're aren't paying for the rooms, but we are considering paying for the officiants since he isn't charging, and he's driving from OOT.
No, but when you negotiate with the hotel, they should give you some perk if you fill X number of rooms. My hotel will do welcome bags if I fill 15 or more rooms. At 10 rooms I get one room upgrade. At 20, I get something else.
No, you shouldn't have to pay for the guests, but be careful with the contracts!! Some require that a certain number of rooms get booked (sometimes it's only one) or else you end up paying for the whole block. For one hotel, thankfully I read the fine print before I signed because it said that I would have to pay for all of the rooms held that didn't end up getting booked (this was at a sheraton). And if guests decide to stay elsewhere, then yes, you'll end up paying for rooms no one is staying in...
Like the other folks said, you shouldn't have to pay to reserve the block of rooms. Do ask for any sport of group discount and check out their contract for specifics. Also, you may want to check with them to see if they have any perks for you if you book your entire block of rooms. We filled our block and received our honeymoon suite free of charge. :)

I know you reserve hotel blocks for those from out of town, but do you pay for their hotel rooms as well? We're not made of money (much like anyone), but I wanted a reality check on this one so I knew if I needed to fit it into our budget.
Thanks!
