It’s such a beautiful song! To be honest I’ve only heard it once at a wedding… it’s so beautiful that I don’t really care whether it’s overplayed or not. 🙂 What is overplayed is that weird “slide to the left… slide to the right” interactive song. When did that get popular? It’s so fun to watch the people do it on the dance floor, but it’s such a spectacle haha.

Haven’t heard it at any of the weddings I’ve been to.  Love that song, it really fits the moment!

I love it so much. It is sort of one of my songs with my dad, and I think we might dance to it. 🙂

I love that song and have never heard it played at a wedding. I asked Fi just last night if he’d consider it for our first dance! I didn’t really get an answer, now that I think about it. Hmmm.

I have heard it at a lot of weddings. But I really like the song so I don’t mind.

LOL @ Mrs. Penguin!  The “Cha Cha Slide” ?

We are so NOT playing that at our wedding, but the next wedding I am in as a bridesmaid…well, let’s just say that bride BROUGHT that song in to David’s Bridal as her way of picking the right dress (based on its dance-a-bility fit)

I love that song. Mr. EMG asked that I walk down the aisle to Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World by Israel Kamakawio’ole. I’ve heard the Armstrong version a few times at weddings, but I think it’s a classic and beautiful song.

I think it’s a little overplayed, but I guess it’s because it’s a very sweet song.  Pengy, that song (I think) is the “Cha Cha Slide”.  At my wedding, my cousin described it as “the hustle for HER generation”.

Lol. For some reason I want to play some sort of middle school (for my gen, at least) dance music. Like, Tootsie Roll or When I Dip (or whatever the name of that song is). I’m sure I’ll come to my senses… lol

Nobody should do the Cupid Shuffle either. Scary, scary, scary.

I had to giggle at this thread.  I have never heard it played at a wedding and had already decided I wanted to use What A Wonderful World for my father/daughter dance….and I sooooo thought I was having an original wedding idea…..darn it. lol

Yes, it’s overplayed but that’s because it’s perfect.

We had it play as the first slow song of the night and took that as an opportunity for him to dance with his mom and for me to dance with his dad (our parent’s didn’t want to tie up the dancing by doing individual dances so we were the only ones to have a special dance that night).

Oh, and I must be the must cliche’ bride ever because our wedding party started off the dance to the Cha Cha Slide and the rest of the guests were encouraged to join in. We would have done the Cupid Shuffle (which was played later) but a friend had just used that as her wedding party song.

it’s definitely overplayed but it’s overplayed for a good reason! It’s a great song!
