It didn’t happen to me, but its perfectly acceptable to have a mix-gender party, either on the bride’s or groom’s side.  For processionals or recessionals, just have them walk down an aisle individually.

My whole life I was afraid I’d have to do this, but during the last like… two years, I just happened to make some female friends. I’d have asked guys though, if I had nobody else. I’d tell them they’d be wearing dresses (not really though). You could use cousins or family of somesort if it makes you feel weird?

I would totally do it. One of my BMs may end up taking the place of the Best Man if he steps down (sigh, drama with his new girlfriend), but I think that would be awesome! She’s super close with Mr. O and I so I don’t care what side she’s on!

We’re having a mixed gender party. 4 girls, 2 guys on my side, and 4 guys, two girls on his. We’re calling them Bridesmen and Groomsmaids =)

My husband had this issue — he had two groomsmen and two groomswomen (one of whom was the best woman). Our bridesmaids walked in individually, but we had the groomsfolk escort the bridesmaids out for the recessional regardless of gender. I understand if your dudes aren’t comfortable with this, though. They could recess singly (one at a time). Nothing wrong with mixed-gender parties or with small parties!

We dressed the groomswomen in skirt suits — for your bridesman, I would suggest that he wear something similar to what the men are wearing, but in color details that match any women in your bridal party. So if you do bright colored dresses, pick those colors up in the shirt, tie, boutonniere, socks, etc. (And the bout can reflect the bridesmaids’ flowers.) But if you do suit-colored dresses — like navy blue, black, tan, brown, etc, you could consider getting a suit that matched the dresses.

Just my two cents — congrats on your engagement!
