Button flowers? Make them into necklaces? garland for around the cake table? what's your wedding theme, i'm sure we can work it in some way!
its a cocktail reception, colours are burgandy and gold.. quite formal affair, limited d floor, we are allowed to bring our own alcohol and our own caterer in, so thats flexible. 150 guests..
possibilities are endless... just need a little direction or inspiration...
LOL~~ Have you seen if they float? You could also put them in the base of vases and nestle floating candles in them or pillar candles, just make sure there's water in there as well... I've never seen a pic of that option...
Formal, hmm? Are you making your own favors or invites? If so, wouldn't it be cute on whatever enclosure you use to glue a button to it, then on the part that closes/folds down/whatever, you put some gold ribbon on that part and looped it around the button, like the button was holding it closed? :) If the button looked too casual, you could always just glue down a gold crystal/bead/pearl-type bead over it to make it look a little more formal!
This is a very rough example:

Ooh, you know, my post kind of inspired me... this is going to sound wacky, but what about a clutch for your bms covered in red buttons and gold and red seed beads? with a little creativity i bet it could be really cool...
like this:

love buttons! i have no idea what to do with them but these pictures are so adorable!!
depending on how many people you have. maybe you could use them on the placecards?
or use it for a "voting" button on something during the reception. If you guys decide to donate $ in lieu of favors or something, that could be a good idea too
Mrs. Avocado used buttons all over. You should check out some of her wedding posts :)
It would be so cute to have little button corsages and buttonholes for extra members of your wedding party - like junior bridesmaids or your ring bearer and stuff.
Oh cinema, you knock me out of the water with your ideas! :)
Toothfairy is right- here are some of Mrs. Avocado's button-related posts:

Other ideas might be to sprinkle them on the tables around your centerpieces.
Use them to decorate the handle of your bouquet:

Maybe a button garland to decorate with:

A picture frame for epics or seating charts or something:
Decorate your card box:

Ooh Thanks RosyChicklet! That's exactly what I was thinking of.
Hmm... the picture frame didn't come up- let me try again:

My dad always used to have a button on the floor of his car. I asked him what it was for, he said in case he had to use it to pay a toll. Now I remember I think a story where a troll at a bridge demanded buttons, but I'm not sure if that's what he was refering to or not.
Is there a DIY project you could use them for that is for the rehearsal or rehearsal dinner?
What about using them to make wine glass charms? Or using them in the STDs?

HI girls
I got given a gift from my grandma for christmas with lots of craft stuff (was a massive basket full of things, double sided tape, cutters, embossing powder, beads..) and were in my wedding colors of burgandy and gold! How fab!
Except in this bundle was about 300 red buttons.
I was wondering if anyone has a diy project they have seen involving buttons? Because literally i dont know what to do with so many!!!
