I would wear the closest thing to a versatile summer cocktail dress you have (think silk/jersey print dresses?) and maybe bring a little crochet cardigan that can dress it down if need be. I think that can look cute and casual or a little more upscale.

You don’t have any sundresses?

I would suggest a cute sundress but since you don’t want to buy anything, you may have to resign yourself to being overdressed. A cocktail dress should be fine and myabe you can make it look more casual with earrings and fun bracelet.

If I were you, i’d wear a floral sundress and maybe a hat if the ceremony was outside. If you don’t have that? wear a cocktail dress and be the most dressed up person there. Better overdressed than underdressed. A pal came to our wedding wearing a black satin cocktail dress and stilettos b/c that’s what she likes to wear, and most of the guests were more casual with island attire. She looked and felt good and that’s what matters!

other women invited probably have the same question. my guess is everyone will do the semi-formal….but maybe without heels? idk. how about just a long skirt? i KNOW you have one of those……

What about a pencil skirt with a cute, dressy top?  Less formal than your cocktail dresses but still plenty dressy (since you don’t have any sundresses).

I’d wear a cotton dress and some practical shoes since it’s outside.

@kittyachi – i just noticed this is EVIL groomsman!

Wear your wedding dress or something, or a pair of denim shorts and crocs!

I was going to suggest a skirt and blouse. I think that’s perfectly fine and I definitely see that at weddings.

Edited to add: no shoes, wife beater tank top, black bra showing through, and cut offs, with a cowboy hat.

I would say bright cocktail dress. That way its summery and you wont be underdressed.

For this guy, I’d suggest a t-shirt with something nasty written on it.

More seriously, though, maybe a skirt and nice top.  Or if it’s chilly, slacks and a blouse.  Cocktail dress and a sweater, but without too much jewelry.  I’m going to disagree with the usual idea that it’s better to be overdressed.  Partly because I’m paranoid about being overdressed but also because this is clearly not someone you want to be dressing to the nines for.

Do you know any other females that are going to this wedding? If you do, you could contact them and see what they are wearing.

Haha, Melissa – I was thinking the EXACT same thing. This is EG! I either wouldn’t bother dressing up too much or dressing fancier than him. Jerkface.
