Our engagement photo shoot was included in our photography package so we didn’t really have a choice. So we have decided to make a photobook for our guest sign in book for our wedding using the pictures.  Also, it is nice to have some great professional pictures of us even to use around the house.

We used some of our pictures for our STDs.  Also, it was a good way to get used to having our picture taken, since we don’t really take pictures of ourselves very much.

They’re really for whatever you want, but generally they’re used for engagement/wedding announcements, save-the-dates, and perhaps a Christmas card during your engagement?  We also made them into albums and gave them to our parents as gifts.  It’s also nice to have nice professional photos of ourselves in the house.  And it’s a great way to commemorate this time in your life!  Oo, and, it’s a good way to become comfortable with your photographer before the big day.

We were not planning on having one, but it was included in our photography package. We’re going to use it as an opportunity to *hopefully* get more comfortable being in front of a camera, and more comfortable with our photographer, since we’re both pretty shy. Then I am planning on using the photos for save the dates, and possibly have some on display at our reception.

I’m planning on using my photos for our Save the Dates, a Guest book, and perhaps a framed photo at the wedding.  Mostly they are just a fun excuse to get our photos taken!  We haven’t had someone else take our photos since we got all dressed up for my Highschool graduation 6 years ago!

I think its a fairly ‘new’ idea though.  I wasn’t surprised that my Fiance had never heard of such a thing before – but was a bit when my mom/grandmother told me they’d never heard of anyone getting them before!

Personally, we opted not to do engement pics. Most couples will take them to have pics for their STDs, website, and reception.

We have so many pics throughout the our years together, and I wanted to display those vs. a bunch of pics that were taken recently. Plus, I knew that at my home I would want to display my wedding pics, not my engagement photos.

Engagement pics were part of our package, but we were given a decrease in price after expressing that we didn’t care for engagement pics.

We have already used some of our pictures for our Save the Dates. We also plan to matte a few blown up ones and have people to sign during the reception. We’ll frame them and use them to decorate the house. Plus, the photoshoot was fun!

We’re just getting them because we have no good pictures of us together that we can share with people. We have Spring Break pictures (mostly with beer or cocktails, haha!) and old prom pictures. Not exactly shareable! So this seemed like a good excuse. A lot of people use them as STDs, too.

I guess it’s kind of nice to have some relaxed coupley type of photos, especially if you don’t have any. I don’t think I’d bother getting them, but I’ve seen some really nice photos which really reflect the couple’s personalities

I used our engament photos in thank-you notes, framed them as gifts for our mothers, and used in announcements in our home town papers.  It also gave us a chance to get to know our photographer.

Since our wedding is in Rio, we used our pictures from our vacation there for our STD’s, since we sent it as a postcard, pictures of Rio were more appropriate.

But for us, it was a great way to act silly all day, take nice pictures of us that our kids can see, and since we live near DC, work in DC, but NEVER go sightseeing, it was an excuse to take pretty pictures in front of touristy places.

(One of my engagement pictures was just featured today!  It’s one of my favorites, and don’t tell me pictures like this aren’t worth it:  http://www.weddingbee.com/2010/04/15/gallery-of-the-day-227/)

My photog likes to do them because it gives her a chance to get to know us and how we respond on front of the camera or any little quirks we have that can hopefully be ironed out before the wedding photos.  We’re doing ours next weekend and I’m really excited!

We did them and I HIGHLY recommend them!  It gave us a chance to get comfortable in front of the camer and a chance to see our photographer’s work (with us in it) before the wedding.  We are using the photos for a photo guest book, for our website, and to frame at the reception.  It was also great to see our photographer’s turn around time, and quality of pictutres and prints.
