I think this may be kinda popular but I'll be using Daughter by Loudon Wainwright.
We used an Irish song about the place my dad is from but if we hadn't I would have used 'Wonderful World' by Louis Armstrong because my dad loves that song or I've always loved 'My One True Friend' by Bette Midler - totally makes me bawl so it's probably better that we didn't!
We're dancing to Take Good Care of My Baby by Bobby Vee. It's an oldie. Up beat, so it should be fun. No sappy crap for us! (it's for the best, my dad's a crier)
I don't think I've heard of anyone else using this song, but I did and it was PERFECT for me & my dad. "It Won't Be Like This For Long" by Darius Rucker. It is so pretty and made me cry everytime!!
@Lees4308: that song makes me tear up - so sweet. It was made for father daughter dances!
We used Child of Mine by Carole King. My dad and I listened to a ton of songs listed as father/daughter dance suggestions and he kept asking if anyone really listens to the lyrics. Most songs in those lists are about romantic love. So after a million No answers, we found this song!
I'm using Steve Kirwan's "My Little Girl", Miss Lamb was going to use it and I fell in love. I gave my dad 4 options, but hoped he picked it and it was his favorite, too.
@starfish: we used the same song and i def got the idea from the 'bee... i tear up every time i hear it... it was the perfect song for us :)
I'm down to "I loved her first" by Heartland or "Walk with you" by Edwin McCain :-) LOVE them both!!
@Beesgf: I agree! I LOVE it! I don't think the DJ played the whole song, but I MADE sure that he played the part where he talks about walking her down the aisle...sooo sweet.
I never even thought of using that song, and I'm love Darius Rucker... Such a sweet song!!! Now I might have a 3rd option to add to my list haha :-)
I think I will be using Walk With You- Edwin McCain. It's soo sweet and a beautiful song!
We're dancing to Jack Johnson's "My Little Girl." I love it because it's not super cheesy or overplayed. It's the perfect beat for a foxtrot.
