I (stupidly) read an article about the Republican candidates and their views on gay rights, which always gets me feeling sad and frustrated. I just want to marry my love and protect our family, damnit! So anyway I thought it might be nice to have a thread to remind us of some of the nice things about being gay ... if there are any, lol.

    To start ....

...I never have to feel embarrassed or awkward about "female issues"

...I can more easily raid my FI's closet

...our relationship doesn't have pre-defined gender roles so everything is carried out more equitably and I never have to wonder if I'm stuck doing a chore because I'm "the woman"

Hmm, that's all I can think of at the moment, anyone else have something to add?

I suppose you don't have to deal with your SO "adjusting" herself, or occasionally peeing outside in the back yard. True story.

Getting to spend the rest of my life with the most beautiful, gentle, loving and perfect future wife I could dream of. . . .don't mean to be corny . . .

Haha also sharing clothes, hair stuff etc is great also.  There are so many other great things about being with someone of the same gender, but I don't ever want it to sound like I am "man bashing" and try to be careful about sounding that way.

@Cupcake2012: I know, that is tricky. I dated several men before finding my future wife, so I know first hand what I LOVE about dating a woman instead, but don't want to offend people. : )

@moonadea: Yes, same here. I was married to a man previously. My sister is getting married soon and when she complains about her FI sometimes, (who is a great guy, dont get me wrong), I can't help but feel so lucky for my wonderful woman and the things I no longer have to deal wit.

The probability of finding the toilet seat down is very high!  ;-)

Equality in the division of household chores- yes!

    sharing clothes- sometimes

being with a woman is an outward expression of my alternative and progressive ideals, i'm so not mainstream and now I can prove it, lol!

spending my life with a gentle, loving, kind, healthy woman- yes! (but that's person-specific, not gender-specific)

and yes, women are WAY hot. ;)

I'm going to guess there is a LOT less farting going on in your household.  I don't even know any women who fart as often (or as loud) as my FI.

Also....no blowjobs to give?  That might be viewed as a perk to some women?  Maybe?  I'm not trying to be offensive, one of my girlfriends hates doing it!

OH!  And no chest hairs on the floor in the bathroom.  Eeeeeew!  :)

    My partner's input:

Never having to worry about an unplanned pregnancy!

Your partner knowing what it's like to be a woman, and never having to explain how the world feels from your perspective (gender wise at least.)

Being able to go in the same bathroom.

Having the same friends more easily.

Being able to share products like lotion, makeup, shampoo, etc.

Being able to go "incognito" and do things like go into the same dressing room, spend the night toegther (especially when you were younger) etc more easily.

I dated several men before my FI, and I always was wondering why they couldn't be more like girls (How in the hellll did I think I was straight?) Anyway - I always could stomach sleeping with them, but I couldn't actually have relationships with them.  One told me he loved me once and I actually vommitted.

I think the best part of being gay is that I can emotionally have a deep and loving relationship.  I love that I can share clothes with her, I love that I don't have to worry about birth control... I love that we don't have to have a "man cave" of the house and that we both love the same girly kind of interior decor.  I love that she knows what it is like to be female, because she is female.

Oh and I love the sex too.  Gay sex is amazing. Lol.

~The toilet seat is never left up!

    ~Boobie pillows! I promise I'm not 12............LOL!

~I wish I could say wearing the same clothes and using the same products but my wife likes men's clothes and products. It suits her though!
