I’m not exactly sure where I should be posting this – so if it needs to be moved feel free to do so
I have been on BC since I was 18 – I’m now almost 25. Last week, I dropped one of my pills and it fell in between the booths at the restaurant we were eating at. My hand was way to big to get it out, so we just decided to let it go and I just took the next day’s. My husband was going to be out of town starting the following day, so we figured it would be ok because we wouldn’t be having sex for a few days.
Since I have been on BC for so long I am not good about tracking my cycles and when I should be ovulating. We had sex on Tuesday night – I got curious about when I would ovulate if not on BC and come to find out – Tuesday would be my most fertile day! I noticed some CM on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday and today it has pretty much disappeared.
I am trying to figure out what my chances are that I could be pregnant and what would be the earliest time I could test.

Missing a single pill within a pack should not change the pill’s effectiveness so long as you continue with the rest of the pack as instructed.
So as long as you did that, your chances are very slim.

I totally agree with KMM. Plus, how do you know when you would have been fertile? There is really no way to know that unless you were completely off the pill and temping… Also, CM is based on hormones, and BCPs work by suppressing the hormonal cycle, which means that CM on BCPs is waaaaayyyyyyy different than off BCPs – and missing one pill wouldn’t change that.
Do you *want* to be KU?

If you are taking the pill, there are no “fertile days” in your cycle. You should be fine!

Totally agree. 21 days worth of bcp is basically a construct meant to mirror a “regular” period. Hence why people can play around with adding pills to avoid getting a visit from aunt flo on undesirable days. Only taking 20 pills in a pack without missing a day (since it sounds like you just took the next days And kept on like that without missing any?) shouldn’t be an issue.

i disagree with the PP…i was on BC from years and got then the depo shot and i got KU with DS….anything is possible.

Agree with PP. The pill prevents your body from ovulating so skipping one pill and moving right on to the next one would not have given your body any chance to ovulate, thereby meaning that the likelihood of you being pregnant is slim to nil. As others have pointed out, the pill mimics a typical 28 day cycle with ovulation occurring on day 14, but as the pill prevents ovulation, there is no “most fertile” day in a pill cycle.
Now if you had skipped the pill for that day altogether, rather than just taking the following day’s pill, it would be a slightly different story, although still unlikely.

Thanks ladies for all of the replies! Since we are not TTC just yet I am still trying to figure out all of the charting/temping/etc. I probably should have mentioned in my original post that I am not great about taking my pill on time everyday. The week of our wedding, our honeymoon, and this past weekend I was TERRIBLE about taking it on time and some days forgot until I went to take the next days. I have also never noticed CM before – so it kind of threw me off when I saw it.
@septcabride: Although we’re not TTC I would be so happy to be KU I’ve felt my whole life that I was made to be a mom and can’t wait! My best friend just had a beautiful little girl so my baby fever is raging right now..

@thepoTATErs: Thanks! Good luck with your TTC journey. If you want some more information about charting (which only works once you are off BCP), check out the Charters thread! There is a ton of great information and support there.
