Save the Dates. We're going to send them after Christmas. Also, staying on top of my bridesmaids to get their dresses ordered.
I am way ahead of myself. I've already got pretty much everything planned, I'm just waiting for the new year to start putting it all into action!
That's how I feel @Marci 607. I just sent my save the dates this saturday, and i have 2 bridesmaids left that need to order dresses. We are making the invites ourselves, So i have been slowly printing some of them. Like direction and accomodation cards RSVPS I feel, it's a nice break, but i can't wait to start pulling everything together after the new year.
I know what you mean. I am so excited to be able to get moving when January gets here! It's getting close...

Deciding on/ordering bridesmaid dresses
It's so crazy to think about for us our next wedding we have to go to is our own, then 5 others the rest of the summer!!!
My dress arrives next Friday (the 11th), and I have my first fitting. I am SO nervous about it. We are also meeting with the seamstress who is going to make my bridesmaids' dresses and finalizing the style and fabric options so she can get started this month. I really wanted to see my dress on me before I settled on bridesmaid dresses.
We are also setting up our registries this month.
@futuremrsreed when do they suggest you bring your dress in for hte first alteration? Or when do you think is the latest? I would like to get in a little bit better shape. I have a size 4 dress that fits me like a glove. But i just need a hem. That is the only area i am lost in!
Oh I expect to leave at least three months for alterations. I also plan to be losing weight, but my dress has a corset back so I am not as concerned as I would be otherwise. This fitting is more for me to see the dress in the appropriate size and appropriate color and with the bolero jacket (which I ordered from another store). I really wanted a dress with long sleeves but nobody makes them anymore, and I was NOT happy with all of the strapless options, and a bolero jacket is not exactly in my dream wedding vision. This fitting will give me to opportunity to make sure this is what I want to do, while still leaving me time to have a custom gown made if I am just not happy. I never got that "The One" feeling with any dress I tried on, and I tried on 50+. They will probably start the actual alterations in March, about three months out.
Oh, and we are going to try to set up our cake tasting this month, but the bakery I want to bake the cake doesn't take reservations more than six months out, so we will probably have to do that in January.
Wow! I feel both ahead & behind.
Done:
Save the Dates went out in October
Website is up, some RSVPs already in
Church ceremony/officiant/photographer/coordinator/outdoor ceremony & reception 2 venue booked.
But I think I'm behind on attire...started dress hunting last month!
To Do:
We sent out our STDs this week and put up our wedding website. We started our registries online, and our goal for the month is to finish those up (gotta go to the actual stores and play with the scanning gun, haha)!! :)
Oh, and going to meet with some potential makeup/hair stylists this month... hope to find someone I click with!
register, STDs, officiant, everything.
lol.
oh, and bridesmaids' dresses.
Yeah, I'm with you, fifty. EVERYTHING. Save the dates, design invitations, a thousand other things.
Wowza! Registries! Totally haven't thought about those...Plus we've got our Holiday "To Do Lists"! Good luck, June 'bees!
With the holidays around the corner with added stress, I am almost tempted to say, I am taking this month off wedding planning until next year! No one's with me on this?? :P
If not, I guess I probably shouldn't slack, either, as I am behind as is.. Not sure how much I can accomplish this month, but the next on our list are: DJ, officiant, florist, STDs, BM dresses.. and any other DIY stuff I can get inspired to make.
1. Book honeymoon. Oh wait, guess we should decide where we're going first!! Eeek.
2. Finish wine cork placecard holders!
3. Look into DIY programs...
Oh yeah, the honeymoon. Forgot about that. I had planned to finalize a destination (or destinations) this month and book next month.
But, I changed my mind. FI has been feeling left out, so I put the whole honeymoon on his plate and told him to surprise me, just make sure we go somewhere that I need a passport. I am actually quite excited to see what he comes up with!
Oh wow! I feel so behind. I still haven't designed my invites. Haven't thought about what bridesmaid should wear. I know the ceremony site and the date. I don't know how I want anything. My family and friends keep telling me I need to make lists but I don't even know where to begin. This Christmas my mom and I are going to India to buy wedding dress and other ceremony outfits. I should have mentioned I am having a traditional Hindu ceremony in Indiana. Oh my goodness I am about to go crazy.
I have to send out the rest of our STD's this month and I really really want to book our honeymoon, but just can't get FI to commit to a plan. He is hemming and hawing about the price of every option I present, I am just frustrated.
Right after the New Year is the deadline for my ladies to purchase their dresses and my first hair/makeup trial. I know you're thinking it's way too early, but we are the msot popular wedding month of the year and I have no idea who is doing my hair/makeup so I"m basically 'interviewing' stylists asap to get on their calendars for my date.
We're trying to figure out the honeymoon, finishing the STDs so I can send them in January, and bridesmaid dresses.
With the holidays I just wanted to give myself some breathing room. In January everything is going to kick into high gear..hopefully.
If it's helpful, what I have done so far:
booked reception site, ceremony site, caterer, DJ, ceremony music, photographer
drafted programs, invites, and STDs (all need to be completed though)
bought my dress
I'm not doing anything this month except for reading wedding blogs at my leisure. Will I regret this later? Probably. Does it feel good right now? Hell yes.
