My fiance and I are thinking of making ribbon wands as favors for our big day. We have a rustic themed wedding, and they would be at the table in mason jars for people to wave for us to kiss and again when we leave the ceremony. I included a link to our inspiration. Are these lame? from a guest’s perspective are these totally pointless? Thanks for the honest imput!

Well, you asked for honest. I think they’re pointless, and not worth the amount of time you’d have to invest in making them. I wouldn’t take it home with me, and I think you’d end up with quite a few left on the table at the end of the night.

Honestly? Guests will leave them behind. What are they supposed to do with them after the wedding?
If you want to have them for Grand Exit photo ops, I think that would be cute as long as you aren;t going to be disappointed when people don’t keep them.

They’re adorable, but I don’t know that I’d call them a “favor.” From your guests’ perspective, they don’t have a functional use, so I just think they wouldn’t know what to do with them.
You could have them as decor and still do a small favor — maybe something edible — that the guests can enjoy.

I agree that they are cute as decor or photo ops, but as @Gemstone: said, maybe do an edible favor? Maybe something simple and inexpensive like m&m’s in your wedding colors in a little bag of tulle, or a heart shaped cookie, or cupcakes? Mint tins are really cute too, and you could DIY for cheaper.

they’re more of a wedding activity than a favor

I agree with PPs who said this really shouldn’t/wouldn’t count as a ‘favor’, since they would be pointless after the wedding. They’re really cute though, and would be a good thing to provide for photo ops. A friend of mine passed out glowstick wand things (a large handle with multiple glow sticks attached to it so you could wave it all around) that we all waved over them as they did their last dance. It was cool to see, but the pics didn’t come out that well….but that’s more of the photogs issue than my friends.
Anyway…cute reception activity and accessory? Yes, super cute. Wedding favor? I’d say no. You’d end up with probably all of them left behind. As a guest of that wedding, I woudln’t even assume I was supposed to take it home since it has no use or isn’t edible. Just my opinion.
