I’m thinking I want to venture out beyond my standard decorated sugar cookies this year. Obviously, Pinterest is an awesome resource, but I’d love to hear some of the hive’s favorites for Christmas/holiday treats!
What will you be baking this holiday? Photos and recipies are welcome! 🙂

Strawberry ribbon bars, caramel chex mix, hazelnut chocolate chip, and whatever awesome recipes I see between now and Christmas. I’m probably doing an oreo cake for Christmas dinner since my friend is coming to visit and he’s a super picky eater.

@housebee: Wow, you go girl! What is this hazelnut chocolate chip dessert? Sounds so yummy!

Hopefully something. My co-worker made some amazing cookies yesterday and I would love to recreate them! I always WANT to bake something, but never get around to it lol.

@Gemstone: It’s super easy, just take a chocolate chip cookie recipe and substitute part of the flour with hazelnut flour (I also recommend upgrading the chocolate chips to a belgian milk chocolate). It’s like nutella made a chocolate chip cookie.

I don’t plan on baking but I did see some choclate covered pretzels with peppermint pices (like bark but with the added saltiness of the pretzel) that I think I might make for people at my office.

@Gemstone: peppermint brownies and gingerbread cake!

@lovelee1: Haha! Yep. I didn’t get around to baking last year because we were traveling around Christmas, so I am trying to make up for it this year. 🙂
@housebee: Oh my gosh that sounds sooooo good.
@beachbride1216: Brilliant! I might have to steal that idea. 😉
@Payless: Mmmm. Do you have a particular recipe for gingerbread cake? My husband loves gingerbread!

@Gemstone: I make gingerbread men every year, at least once. I think I’ll be baking those this weekend!
@Payless: Wow, that looks GREAT! Thank you!
@pengoala: Um, could they be any cuter? I love the M&Ms. 🙂

@Gemstone: I will probably bake the following:
1) Banana bread loaves for the in-laws
2) Pumpkin cheesecake for the co-workers (this one is ambitious so we will see… I made it once and it was a hit)
3) Chocolate chip cookies for DH (he’s got simple taste so chocolate chip cookies it is for him…)

@Gemstone: Here’s my list. I’ve started the sugar cookies, but we’ll see if actually get around to doing all of it.
Lemon shortbreads with lemon glaze
orange shortbreads dipped in chocolate
raspberry almond squares
Chocolate mint truffle cookies
Cranberry pistachio and white chocolate chip cookies
Peanut butter balls
gingerbread cheesecake bites
dessert for Christmas dinner: eggnog cheesecake bars with a warm spiced rum sauce

@Gemstone: Cheesecake is my thing! I tend to make it for all seasons/holidays just different variations…
For summer, it is berry or lemon cheesecake.
For fall/thanksgiving it is pumpkin cheesecake.
But for winter/Christmas, I tend to do white chocolate cheesecake or peppermint cheesecake! Oreo cheesecake is requested year round! 🙂
I also do chocolate covered pretzels, chex mix, and cookies of some sort. The cookies change every year. I am inspired by the gingerbread men picture above. YUM
