Not sure if this thread came up yet, but does anyone have any legal, top money makers they can share?
I work a lot now, so don't have time for this anymore, but I used to sell books on Amazon, tutor, and babysit.
FMIL is excellent at making extra $$. She does intense couponing and buys nonperishable goods virtually free and resells them in yard sales. She also spends a couple of hours a day entering giveaways. She wins a ton of stuff and then either uses, returns for $$, or resells.
I'm trying to convince FI to have a garage sale after our shower. I know ettiquitte wise it might be poo-poo, but we were both independent adults before we moved in together, so we have a lot of doubles of things already. After the shower, we'll have a ton of extra stuff and we have a really small house! So part of it is a money maker, the other is to get organized before the wedding so when we come back from our honeymoon, we come back to a nice clean, organized house!
If you are in a big enough city you can try looking for focus groups.
I work a part time from home doing data entry at nights and on weekends. I make an extra grand and only work 25 hours. I'm an independent cosultant. Love it!
I am a personal trainer in the evenings - I just have a few clients but the extra savings is worth it!
Ugh, I was bartending for awhile. It was intense though, I stopped before winter. I was working 65 hour weeks for over a year! I wish I had a better idea to give.
I have a babysitting gig I kept after graduating from my Masters program. Because I have been working with the family for a few years they trust me and treat me very well. My full time job pays the bills and savings, but the babysitting money is my "fun" money. I put it towards the wedding, art classes, dinners out. It really makes a difference.
I'm teaching spinning and Pilates at my local Y. For 45 minutes, I earn $12.50 and get a good workout. I've only been getting paid for the last 2 months (before that I was in training) and have earned over $200 for 3-4 classes per week. It's not a lot, but it has given me a little extra spending money to treat myself and FH.
I am a Silpada Designs Rep (awesome sterling silver jewelry). Good way to earn some extra spending cash. If you're interested, let me know.

I work for ChaCha! It's a service that sends answers to people's cell phones for any question they ask. It doesn't pay much, but it's fun and you can do it in your pajamas sitting on your couch if you want.
I work fulltime as a nanny, but often bartend and waitress at a local theatre. I can't do it all the time, otherwise I'd collaspe from exhaustion, but it's a nice way for me to earn some extra cash.
I was a Pampered Chef consultant, but with work and school I couldn't keep up with it. You could potentially make a lot of money though, I might go back once I graduate in May and have more time
I just got a serving job for friday and saturday nights as I work full time during the week, but every little bit helps. We really want to save for our dream honeymoon to Italy.
I work part-time at a hardware store! IDEA: great discount (cost+5%), can save on home repairs, only about 15 hours per week, work as a cashier (you don't need to learn all the ins-and-outs).
I am a department manager at Hobby Lobby! [This is my full-time, pays the bills job] IDEA: 15% discount on everything!
Mr. Tee and I have our own business through Amway. We sell artistry cosmestic/skin care (Same company that sponsored miss america pageant) and Nutrilite healthcare products.
There are some awesome ideas here! @vanessa_b, I've always wondered who answered my random questions from cha cha! How did you get that gig? How many hours a week is it?
I joined the Premier Designs Jewelry family last fall...I love it! I work on evenings/weekends that I don't have my boys, and I make an average of $200 a show! I don't have quotas or deadlines to meet, and it has been such a huge blessing in my life!
I do a couple different survey companies that I've tried out and are legitimate! If you're interested send me a PM - I know (now) that we're not allowed to post referrals. It's an easy way to earn some extra cash by clicking emails or shopping through portals, and every dollar counts!
I don't have a steady job per say,
I take care of children (baby sit) and take care of the elderly (in home care). I also house keep occasionally. The house keeping has made me the most money. It's easier work because you don't have to deal with any kids or any elderly, but you have to be very meticulous and sometimes that takes up a lot of hours.
I currently baby sit for one family once a week and on occasion. I also do in care for an elderly woman. I'm also (God willing) going to also work for her daughter in law in what ever she will need me in.
Wish me good luck.
@mrsheart What do you do for extra money?
I do freelance copy editing work, mostly for academic publications/doctoral dissertations. I love getting into the nitty-gritty when it comes to grammar, spelling and word meaning. And, as a bonus, my head is now filled with all kinds of random, super specific information that I've gleaned from the documents I've edited!
Nothing! My job is very demanding and with the wedding planning and family obligations I have no time for a 2nd job. I was considering being an AVON lady on the side, but I honestly can't think of anyone I know that would be interested in ordering makeup they can't try on first now with Sephora everywhere. I do make good money with my job, but LOVE the idea of maybe making some extra on the side..
I used to do a nannying each week 1-2 daya week for a few hours....the plus is that because of the area I get paid well for the actual amount of work and time I spend. I haven't done as much lately though because of time and the family I usually help out isn't in much need right now.
I work as a tutor for high school and college students in science and math. It makes up for my furlough days. It was helping me save and pay off my car before we started taking furlough Fridays.
We both work full time and have gotten involved in a wellness company that so far has been pretty wonderful. Like others have mentioned before I'd be more then happy to talk about it if you PM me!
I freelance design invitations and other wedding related stuff! And painting / color consultations. Need to get more active with those things though. PM me bees if you have any interest :)
I got a part time job as an office receptionist. I still have time to check in on weddingbee and get paid ;)
Also, selling stuff on Ebay is a GREAT way to get some fast cash. Most people have about $500-$1500 of stuff sitting around that they don't use and could sell for cash. Look through your closet and at old textbooks, and start selling handbags that you don't use as much.
Babysitting is another easy way to earn cash. Once you get the word out to a few moms in your town, they will be all over you with opportunities, especially if you live in suburban family-friendly town.
My fiance and I have a business that I consider my "day" job. I do CHACHA too. It doesn't pay much but it helps a little, I learn all sorts of cool stuff, and I can still feed my WB addiction as I can be on there and here at the same time. I'm always looking for somthing that makes more though because my fiance just lost his "day" job (DJing was his 2nd job).
Wow, some really cool ideas here...
My main job is freelance illustration and occasional graphic design work, so my schedule varies a lot, but I also teach violin in private lessons on the side. It helps!
I moonlight as a dog-sitter for a couple that go on vacation A LOT.
Mrs. Heart did someone already mention that you may have the last two #'s in your wedding year transposed??? Or maybe you're already married. I dunno.
Halloween is the BEST funnest Holiday and yours should be awesome! SO FUN!
My date is not transposed, I am happy to say that I am happily married 10 years in April.
The system does not exceed 2001.
I found this site by searching the net for starfish for my little sister's upcoming wedding father's day weekend. I am addicted to this site, just wish I had this kind of support when we totally paid for our own wedding by working two jobs at the time.
My sis has been out of work but never gave up the "something to look forward to" so I am looking for ideas in Illinois basically for both of us. I work full time so it would have to be at home with little hours and lots of pay because I am a mommy too.
For the GIrl that mentioned EBAY? I have MUCH BETTER luck on craigslist locally, you meet them in a public place and get cash for your items, (usually moms for our stuff) and their is no listing fees, no fees what so ever, and certainly no waste of time packaging and shipping. I recommend much better if you have one locally. It is not all trash on Craigslist.
Craigslist is good for small common things but if you are selling something unique or expensive, you probably would do better on ebay.
I don't have a second job. My second job is school, which with the ammount of hours I put in, I'd say it's actually my first job. So my second (first) job would be retail. Plain ol' boring retail.
Wow this thread is all kinds of awesome. Keep em coming! I need a second job (sigh),
