I'm going to make a pocket fold invitation from www.cardsandpockets.com. Something like this:

But the blue part will be a cranberry color and the black part will be a deep purple paisley print. The main wedding colors are going to be deep red and purple.
Instead of doing a monogram of our initials or names, we're going to use this two peacock motif with the rhinestone too. I'm just designing the invitation in word, printing it at home (or at kinkos), and assembling the invitations with my mother and sister-in-law.

Ooh that looks lovely!
We're going to DIY our invitations. We don't know our colors yet, probably not 'just' the standard red. But the base colors will be white, black, and silver with our colors added via text, most likely.
I'm Indian American and he's European American, so it's going to be hard to 'marry' the two aesthetics -- but we're going to try!
I think we're ordering our invites from a company in India. Initially I wanted to DIY the invites but I'm just not cut out for all the artsy stuff. Plus, after doing a cost breakdown we're actually going to save money by ordering from India rather than buying the materials to make the invite that I want.
I searched indianweddingcard.com for hours, ordered a bunch of samples and though there were some really nice ones, none were a red and purple color combination. That's why I decided to make mine, plus, I have plenty of time and I like arts and crafts.
We're doing I guess more traditional colors for the wedding (red, orange, hot pink, with a touch of gold) so it was pretty easy to find invites from those sites that worked for us. Your invites sound amazing though. I love the deep purple/cranberry combo.

Are you planning to order wedding cards from an India company, or something less traditional, such as letterpress?
What theme/motif would you choose?
