I'm getting a spa gift card for my mom. For my dad I'm doing a split picture frame- on one side a pic of us when I was a baby, on the other, the two of us on my wedding day.
i think we are going to do a pocket watch for my dad, and a pre-wedding weekend in SF for my mom, along with a nice dinner and 4th row tickets to Wicked. :)
We're doing frames from The Studio by Danielson Designs (super fun site if you've never checked it out) with their names, date THEY got married, and a line or 2 from their first dance songs
Still working on this, but I'm thinking that FILs will get a gift certificate to a really nice restaurant (enough for entrees and wine and dessert), and my mom will get a pair of diamond stud earrings to wear at the wedding. She had a pair she loved that she accidentally lost a year or two ago, and I'm able to get jewelry at wholesale prices through FMIL, so I thought that would be a nice gesture to thank her for going through the painful process of being 3,000 miles away from me throughout the whole planning process. I know that hasn't been easy for her. Still need to come up with something really good for my dad, though. He kind of already has everything he wants...
I think J and I decided :) We're going to do hotel gift certs for both sets of parents; in a city his parents love to visit and then at a golf/spa resort for my parents! I'm really excited to do this for them. They've been such a big help with the wedding!
We didn't give gifts during the wedding, like at the rehearsal dinner, but we are going to give photo albums once we get our pro pics back. We are going to get a really nice, expensive one for my mom and stepdad since they paid for the wedding, and then a smaller one for FI's parents.
For those of you giving a photobook. Did you or are you planning on giving them a card at the rehersal dinner telling them about the photobook or how did you explane it? Thanks
We're doing a gallery wrap and letting them pick which of our wedding photos they'd like on it.
We're having a destination wedding in Mexico and are paying for everything ourselves. We also decided to pay for our parents trips down there, so that will be their present.
I am glad you posted this because I checked the "still undecided" box. I could use some insight!
We're taking my parents out to dinner and giving them simple, personable gifts. For my mom, she wanted this one necklace, so I made an exact replica of the one she wanted and added a little bit of my own flare to it. Then my dad is a BBQ man so we got a personalized BBQ brand for him. Something simple and sweet to let them know how much we appreciate all that they've done for us :] Then after the wedding, we're making photobooks.
I seriously doubt my parents know about/expect parent gifts... and I'd never heard of them before weddingbee... so we might not do them. We're not giving each other gifts either (we are doing bridal party gifts). If we do something it will be personal and probably home-made.
@CorgiTales: I don't think our parents will be expecting it either; and if they do, they certainly won't be expecting much. We are really grateful though for all that they've done for us over the years, and especially for all that they're doing for the wedding now. So we thought going big on their gifts would be a great way to thank them!
Ok i just voted for skipped but I meant other...LOL I think we will tryi to make some photo books to give them after we get the pictures back and maybe a special thank you card. Being as they are paying for a single thing or helping in anyway! I really don't feel like giving them anything. But they did birth us into the world so...they do deserve somthing special. LOL

We got one set of parents a wine club membership for a few months. They have everything, and I honestly couldn't think of a THING to get them. But, they love wine, and have a favorite winery, so we enlisted them in their membership plan. They LOVED it, and it wasn't as expensive as I thought it would be.
For my mom, I got her emerald earrings because she looks amazing with green accessories.
I am probably not going to get my mother anything (bad juju be damned) 'special' probably just like a thank you with flowers & whatnot.
For my dad, well, that's a tough one, he's got everything under the sun. Seriously. We will probably buy him something for the cabin.Maybe.
For FFIL we'll get him a pocket watch or a pipe or something.
For FMIL, something very special. She's always gone above and beyond for us, and is doing the same now. Haven't quite decided.
All 3 'groups' will probably get a nice photobook/framed portrait or something semi-genero.
