What are you doing for the guests to make you kiss?

One wedding I went to had a bowl at the head table where guests could make a donation towards a charity the bride and groom had chosen. (It was an animal shelter.) If you made a donation, the newlyweds would kiss. I have to be honest and say that it had mixed results; you would really have to know your guests and how they would react and whether they would participate for this to work well.

One less potentially controversial “game” (but possibly cheesy) I’ve seen is where guests/tables have to stand up and sing. This seems to go over better, especially if you have a lot of extroverts coming to your wedding. I’ve seen it where you just have to sing a line of a song that contains a certain word (ie “love”), but for a couple I know that are Beatles’ fans, you had to sing a Beatles song.

I’ve also been to weddings where each table has a mini trivia quiz about the bride and groom and correct answers results in the couple kissing.

I myself am not a huge fan of those types of games, but good for you for trying to think outside the box!

Our guests had to quote Will Ferrell.  Some did it from memory (lots of fans, lol), but our emcee also had quotes in a bowl to pull from. So many laughs!

We had a money jar that we donated to cancer research, since we all know someone affected by it. We figured that having to pay would get people to back off and not make us kiss very often (that was the goal –  to reduce it!) but holy hell they took it like a personal challenge. We made $90 in toonies, loonies and quarters. If we could do it all over again we’d just stick with glass clinking and not even mention it at all. I was getting pretty annoyed having to stand up and kiss every 2 minutes!
