I would ask what you’re doing for your Mom on Mothers Day, but me & my mom are no longer speaking so I won’t be celebrating that day…so in order to get prepared & ready for Fathers Day, I wanted to see what you all did/are doing for your dad!
I just want to thank my dad for all that he’s done & especially with helping me TREMENDOUSLY with the wedding! Thanks yall!!!

I think most people are still thinking of Mother’s Day first!
Most years we all get together and do a cookout. Get him a bottle of his fav booze and steaks on the grill (his fave meal in the whole world) and dinner on the patio. Along with presents of course.
Family, steaks, nice weather, some of his favorite things!

I was asking just because I’m not thinking of Mothers Day at all!
Sounds fun! Thanks for the info!

Is there a activity he likes to do?
The boys will usually also take FFIL out golfing in the morning before family hangout and dinner. 🙂
Perhaps frame one of your favorite pictures of you and dad from the wedding?

We always just do dinner. Unfortunately for my step-dad, Mother’s Day is a much bigger event for both families. We always have a huge cookout at the lake house with all of the mothers in my family and my husbands. It’s usually ends up being about 30-40 people. Father’s day is usually just at my parents house and just celebrating my step-dad. I think last year I made chicken pot pies and carrot cake. Woot Woot – big party!
We don’t do anything with my FIL. I doubt he even knows there is a “Father’s Day.”
I tend to wonder if dad’s actually care about Father’s Day?

For the past 10 or more years, my dad has always been away golfing for fathers day; and then the day just kind of gets skipped. This year however I have asked him not to go away and I bought 22 tickets to go to a Phillies game. We, the whole family, grandkids and all are going to tailgate and then go enjoy the game. He is super excited and glad that he cancelled his golf trip!

I love cook outs with my dad. Sadly he loves so far away that they are a rare occasion but I am hoping to be able to fly out to Portland and see him around fathers day. Now that all the kids are all grown up, getting family together means a lot to my dad. Normally I get him a gift, he is very outdoorsy so its usually something along those lines. Last year I was around Fathers Day I was still living in Washington so as a surprise I flew my sister and brand new baby niece out for him to see them.

Fathers day is the day after our wedding! We will be going back to our house to pick up our luggage, then spending the afternoon hanging out with dad.. Maybe dinner, maybe some putt putt. Just a fun relaxing afternoon with dad!

I always try to plan “date day” with just him and I because I really don’t get to talk to him or see him much. Usually when I go home he’s busy with this or that and my mom kind of takes over a little bit and her and I go shopping or whatever. So, its always nice for fathers day to be able to just take him out and do something he likes to do (I also usually try to pick things my mom wouldn’t want to do with him so its kind of a treat). Stuff we’ve done in past years:
– rock and roll hall of fame
– baseball games
– Body Exhibit (the one with all the preserved dead bodies)
– art museum or art shows
– wine tasting event
Also, if its nice weather and we’re not going too far I suggest we take his motorcycle bc he LOVES it and I never want to ride on it haha. And usually I get him something little in addition. Not big stuff… but like one year I got him all these drawing pens he couldn’t find at home but I found at an art store here, or some nice headphones he’d been wanting. Little stuff. 🙂

I do know that Dads care about it, at least, my FI does. I usually send him and his kid out to the driving range, and then we all have burgers or something when they get home. I get him a card and a little something, and if his son hasn’t figured anything out on his own, I help him pick up a present, or at least make him something. FI says the most important thing on Father’s day is that he gets to spend time with his family, he doesn’t care as much what that time is spent doing.

We’re going fishing 🙂
FH, Dad, possibly FFIL & I are going out to my dad’s 75year old cabin in the middle of nowehere [seriously, you have to hike in to get to it], we’ll go fishing, have a shore lunch, probably go swimming and just enjoy the first time out camping for the season.
Aside from that Fh & I are going to be putting together separate ‘little’ things for our dads too — FFIL likes a good martini and motorbikes, so we’ll probably pick something up from a Harley outlet for him and maybe a jar of olives and a nice bottle of vermouth. My dad enjoys all kinds of random things that don’t involve smoking & drinking so he’ll probably get some more technical gizmos.
It’s a double whammy for us though, my dad’s birthday falls right near mother’s day! So we’ve got lots of brainstorming to do.
