Okay ladies, now that you have joined the married ranks, what are you going to do with your dress? Preserve and keep it? Donate it? Sell it? Re-use it? Inquiring minds want to know!

I am selling mine. It's such a beautiful dress, in such great condition and I am not happy with the idea of letting it sit and rot for the next 50 years. I would rather help another bride save a nice chunk of money on a perfect gown, all while trying to recoup some expenses.

Guess I should answer my own question. LOL Mr. LK and I did our rock the dress photo shoot this past weekend, and my dress still has one more photo shoot to go (a TTD session in late spring 2012). Then it will be cleaned for the last time and donated to Brides Against Breast Cancer. It's a higher-end designer gown, so hopefully they will make some money off of it, and another bride will get to enjoy the dress.

It's just hanging in a garment bag in the guest room closet . . . I haven't touched it since the wedding.

I plan to have mine turned into a bassinet - the skirt will become the skirt for the bassinet and the bodice may become a part of the detailing.

I think I'll also have enough fabric (by far) for a christening gown or two...

I dont want it to just sit in the closet, but I think I love it too much to part with it!

Last night I was showing a (newer) friend pictures of my dress and she tells me how it is everything she would want in a dress, so I'm going to pass it along :) I'm excited that someone else loves it as much as I do :)

I answered, preserve it, but I just had it cleaned and it is hanging in its bag in my office. I hope that my niece will want to wear it in about 20 years when she gets married. DH and I are not going to have children, and since my grandmother bought the dress, I think she would kill me if I sold it or cut it up for something else.

I can't decide!!!!!!!!! I was going to sell it but now hubby wants to keep it. I need to seriously consider why we would keep it - would I wear it to a renewal or something down the road??

I have never heard of the cristening gown idea... hmm....

It's been over a year since my wedding, and it's still in the closet.. hasn't even been cleaned!!  I didn't pay that much for the dress, so it's not like I need to re-coup some money.. maybe I'll preserve it... but is it realistic to think that down the road, someone (a future daughter) would want to wear it?!?    I'm still up in the air!

My plan is to turn it into a christening gown or 10.  Damn there's a lot of fabric to my dress.  My only concern right now is whether or not to spend the big bucks to get it cleaned or wait to have my mom sew it into the gown and then have it cleaned.  I feel like it would be so much cheaper that way.  However, I had someone spill red wine down the side of my dress so I have a giant stain.  Still uber mad about that.  But even still, I feel like there's so much other fabric that I wouldn't need to use that part.  I'm guessing it'll be less than year before we have our first child so hopefully the dress won't be in too bad of condition.
