I met with a baker today and i was quoted 400.00 for a standard 3 tier square cake that makes 84 slices. plus i have to rent her stand & pay delivery.
this seems high to me. what were you cake costs?
p.s im in ontario canada. i know things are generally a bit more here.

I’m in Canada also and I’ve been quoted 430 for a basic 3 tier cake as well! I think it’s pretty standard around here.

Ive been getting anywhere from 4.00-6+ per slice so thats a great deal to me. I found a “deal” where I pick from one of three cake designs and get it down to 3.50ish per slice, but im still on the hunt

my venue is paying for the cake but I’m paying about $400 for the extra designs and an additional $50 to my florist to provide the flowers.

I’m paying about $5.75/piece. Killer cake, man. Way too expensive

I have heard from multiple bakers that square cakes cost more and you get less cake for the money.
We have a 3 tier cake:
Scrollwork (moderately detailed)
square bottom tier-choco cake & choco buttercream
circle middle tier-red velvet & cream cheese buttercream
square top tier-french vanilla cake & buttercream
silver monogram cake topper
to feed 130ppl
$638-for something people eat a tiny piece of… This sounds insane to me, but I don’t know??

Here I will make you feel better – we had a venue minimum and so we are splurging and our cake is $18 a slice
We are having a 3 tier cake with lots of decoration and cascading gum paste flowers –
think Ron Ben Israel meets Sylvia Weinstock 🙂
This is a cake that our Pastry Chef made recently so needless to say we have high expectations

The place I’m looking at is upwards of $3 per slice and will need to feed about 100 or so.

I live in California. We are having a two tier cake that will serve 25 people. It cost 65$.

Ours is $85. It was $35 for the cake and $50 for the decorations (hand made sugar flower toppers). It feeds 10 people. Since we are just getting the one tier she only charged us as if it was a birthday cake, but if we had gotten a wedding cake from her (more than one tier) it’s $5 a piece.

My cake is $550 just for decoration. My MIL is making 3 tiers of fruit cake. I am having a quite decorative cake so I think that’s why the cost.

Wow, those are just too much for me… I am baking my own cake, much cheaper and I can have it the way I want it. So what if it’s not “professionally” made? It’ll have character and my personality build (or baked) right in!
