my fiance and i are poor! We cashed in some of our AMEX points and got a $250 gift card to a nice restaurant in the city. We will also exchange greeting cards, but it will definately be low key!
Our plane tickets to Cancun were our "Valentine's" day gift. We don't go till the end of the month, but it was an excuse to not get each other something. (Or if we do it will be very small).
Nada. I mean, my company.
With the wedding a month away, we're saving every penny we can.
We're poor too at the moment, so V-day will probably be pretty low key. Maybe a computer game and a cute valentine :D
We got married 2 weeks ago, and I've been sitting on my book of boudoir pics from December. It's going to be a BIG surprise! I was going to give him the book the night before the wedding, but there was so much going on, I wanted to stretch it out and be special.
Not sure yet! My birthday is the day before so we usually combine a lot of it. Last year I just got him a bunch of candy and some books but since we are bordering on broke this year I might try and do something crafty!
i got him the 3D simpsons chess set from the 90s. we love chess and he loves the simpsons :)
We will probably just go to a nice dinner and exchange cards. Saving for wedding!!
We are doing cards and flowers -- well he's getting me flowers! :) Our gift to each other this year is his flight to come visit me for the long weekend. We'll go out to dinner too, but with wedding plannign we're holding off on gifts this year.
I am planning on booking a hotel room for May. We are doing our engagement phoot shoot in another state, so I want to turn it into a fun getaway (just one night, midweek). Hopefully I can get a deal since hotels aren't doing too well.
I'm bad b/c we agreed not to get anything for Valentine's Day (and our Anniversary, they are 4 days apart) but I found the perfect present so I got him a gift anyway :-/
I got us cooking lessons at Sur La Table for the Monday after Valentine's Day (two days after v-day and 2 days before our anniversary) to cook Comfort foods - all the food they say we're going to make FH loves and we love cooking, so its perfect :)
Big City Slider! DH won't shut up about it, but he'll be totally surprised since I think they're ridiculous. If it doesn't arrive in time, I bought a special hot chocolate maker which will be nice in mid-Feb.
My FI hates gifts. Really. Doesn't like having money spent on him. So I'm sending him pictures for Valentines Day!
I bought a cheap memo note cube at JoAnne's with a spot for a picture on the top at Christmas time, but never used it. I'm writing 365 reasons I love my husband, one on each slip of paper. Hopefully, it will be a gift that will keep giving for the next year when he reads one each day! We're on a tight budget too, so we agreed to just keep it low key and stay home to cook a nice dinner with a bottle of wine. What DVD should we rent for the big night? Any fun ideas?
No exchange of presents. We will celebrate by going out to dinner and enjoying each other's company. The wedding exactly one month from V-day, so that will be something we are looking forward to instead of spending cash on presents.
We are going to bake something together and exchange cards. :) I'm really looking foward to it.
We agreed for the next year or so to give each other wine for all the special occasions except Christmas. That way we can save some money and try wine we've never had before (that's part of the rule). For Valentine's Day, we are taking each other to a restaurant we love with a great by-the-glass wine selection, so we'll get to try lots of wine that night.
i have a nice card for him and i will be making (although i shudder at the thought) rice krispie treats. he loves them, but the smell makes me nauseous. all for love.
we're seriously lacking fun (college students, here!), so we're just spending the day together. he's planning something for us for the day and i'm making him a romantic meal that night. i'm also making him a "365 reasons why i love him" book (a la mrs. candy corn). i wanted to do it for our preanniversary, but i just didn't have the time. valentines day is as good a time as any!
Since my husband hates wearing watches, he has a soft spot for pocket watches. He got one from his parents for high school graduation and I had planned on getting him a really nice one for our wedding. Well, his parents got him another one for college graduation which was a year before our wedding, so I thought that killed the idea. However, he mentioned the other day that he though the mechanical skeleton ones (you can see the gears and such working) are really cool and that's what I had wanted to get him for our wedding! So I did it. It will be a combined late wedding present, Valentines day present, and dateiversary present since March 4 we will have been together 5 years.
This is the one I got:
How did everyones VDay work out? We had a nice relaxing night in with a dinner and a nice bottle of wine it was perfect. So he is def not getting put in the Doghouse this year,
I got him 10 cans of Copenhagen to take with him to Texas, lol. His real gift was a fish cleaning table that wasn't going to make it on time.
