In the spirit of saving for the wedding, honeymoon, and new house, we set aside $20 each for Christmas. I made him a certificate for a years worth of back rubs along with a bottle of massage oil.
Oh I like this thread! i finally figured it out!
* Star Trek Original Series Season 1 (Maybe, Amazon's price jumped 50 dollars since I last checked!)
* Leather charging station
So i thought it was a great idea to make him a photo album through Adoramapix. My computer kept freezing and it took me like 4 hours to put together. Through my roommates, I found out he's getting me basically the same thing. Too funny! I also have to get him something more so I'm looking for ideas as well. I have exhausted all of the necessary electronics (iPod, iPod speakers, GPS) so I have to get more creative. He could always use clothes. I made him a scarf for Valentine's Day and he loved it so I could do that again in another color. I just want something unique since my great idea of the photo album seems less impressive now.
I am thinking either a watch, or a leather jacket. but i'll be searching for a super deal because we have a $150 budget!!
hmmm FI always wants something for his car, so this year..most likely gonna get him a center console (sp?)...and maybe some snowboard gear...
We have a budget this year too :o)
I got him a Sony Blu Ray player (Black Friday -- $129 with a $20 Target GC)
And the kitties got him the first season of True Blood on Blu Ray ;o)
I am SOOOOO excited for what I got FI, and I thought of it all by myself! He plays a fantasy football game called Blood Bowl and his team is made up of dwarfs and is called Da Beards. I am getting him a custom made Chicago Bears jersey from NFLshop.com with "Da Beards" on the back and his age (because I couldn't think of another relevant number). It's AWESOME and he's going to LOVE it (I hope).
I already put this up on another post...but we are travelling out of the country christmas day so i got him a hanging leather toiletry bag with his initials on them :)
well, we don't celebrate xmas but we do celebrate chanukah...so i'll share with you=) my fiance and i both agreed to not exchange gifts this year so that we can save $ for our wedding. but he always cheats! so we decided to arrange an engagement picture shoot with his photgrapher friend. we'll each pay half=)
i got him a rolling carry-on size suitcase. It is a real nice one with all sorts of pockets! I also got him a half zip sweater from J.Crew that i put inside the case.
For all you HIMYM fans, I got him a bar sign that says "In this place in 1897, nothing happened".
I also got him a bunch of stocking stuffers. Knowing me I'll probably get him something else, just haven't decided yet.
We always spend money on a trip or adventure in lieu of big gifts! It's more fun & memorable. I won't remember the stuff he got me over the years, but I will remember our romantic escapes! We're spending 3 nights at our favorite local getaway: Willows Lodge in Woodinville, WA (just outside Redmond). This place just oozes romance :)
I also got him a customized locker room photo for his man cave with his last name on the jersey for the Bengals, the complete 4400 dvd series & the usual: a tie, a dress shirt & silly stocking stuffers.
We gave each other our most recent trip to NYC..we had so much fun with my 2 oldest sons and picked out where our ceremony will be in Central Park..Belvedere Castle!
My FI and I decided last year that instead of Christmas gifts we'd go in on a vacation each year. So this year we're going snowmobiling in Feb. with a group of friends.
Great ideas on this thread, thanks. Love the monogramed leather toiletry bag, may have to look for one of these for his birthday.
@Samismomsam, that is an awesome name for a Blood Bowl team, and an awesome gift. Good going!
We were supposed to be keeping it simple and inexpensive, but I fell off that wagon. He's getting a leather jacket, a bathrobe, Star Trek: TOS season 1 remastered dvd set, the Batman Vault book, a photobook and photo calendar, and a netbook. I know he will fuss that it's too much, but I will keep pointing out that he already gave me what I wanted--him!
We are also not doing a big christmas this year. We have a wedding to contribute to, bought a house together this year and realize that we have better uses for money than a pile of gifts.
Anyways, I am getting FI an Ipod touch for Christmas. It's something that he really wants and would not buy for himself at this point because of the price.
We also found unbelievable prices for plane tickets and hotel in Chicago. So we will be doing a weekend trip there in January.
He's getting a nice scarf, a pair of pajamas and a new set of cufflinks (but those are for the wedding!)
Sigh, I wish we had the time to take off work to go on a vacation. That's what I really want, but there is literally no way we can take off a weekend since we're going to my parents in January and again in February.
i'm knitting him socks and including a note that says "in case you get cold feet" :)
I have no clue. You would think that growing up with 3 brothers, I'd have an easy time shopping for boys but not so much.
We have a limit too... I got him a game for Wii, cologne (The One by Dolce & Gabbana) and some other little things.
I'm thinking of getting him the Magic Mouse from Apple, it's super cool. :)

we're Mac Fiends!
KMSull-- I'm the same way, I'd LOVE to just do a vacation, but its harder to get time off of work for me especially when I need to take time off over the next year before the wedding.
I'm taking him out to the latest NY Times 4-star restaurant, Eleven Madison Park. He's a wannabe foodie. I'm not planning on telling him, just making him get dressed up and go. He'll figure it out when he gets there.
My poor student status doesn't allow me to spend tons on FI, but this year I bought him a new leather wallet that was on sale at The Bay. I am slightly concerned he won't like it (he is sooooo picky about EVERYTHING) but I kept the receipt and won't be offended if he wants to exchange it for one he likes better.
:)
You all have some really cute ideas!!!!!!
I am getting my FH
1)The Kindle
2)A manchester united jersey
2)An engagment ornament I found that I am so excited about since there are so many 'our first chirstmas' for married folks but not many for engaged
3)"Joey" on DVD since we watched and love all of "Friends" :)
and a few other random things...
A new digital camera, a cpl of DVDs, clothes, cologne and an array of stocking stuffers ranging from Carmex (he works outside), lighters, ciggs, an ID tag for his travel bag and whatever else I see at the checkout line lol
- a fun card game our friends have that he loves to play
- a Blu-ray subscription to Netflix
- some new clothes (his request!)
For my language/history geek FI I got a reproduction map of ancient Rome for his office (which he always complains has nothing on the walls), a leather bound "book" which looks super old, but is really a hiding place for things!, THE difinative ancient greek dictionary (normalyy $360 but I got it on crazy sale for $120!!), and, if I can find them in stock anywhere, books ends which look like plato and homer(?) done as marble statue heads. There will probably we a dvd and such as stocking fillers (along with lots of little candies).
He knows about the dictionary (I'd have never found that deal on my own!), but the rest are a total surprise! I'm soo excited for him to open his presents! :D
So I just found the gifts! YAY! I found this super cute custom ornament on Etsy: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=36179242&ref=sr_list_1&&ga_search_query=ornament+couple+&ga_search_type=handmade&ga_page=&includes[]=tags&includes[]=title
I also found an Etsy artist who makes collage pieces of Chicago Cubs. He also does custom pieces so this could be an idea everyone can use. http://typeandco.com/
I think I might also get him a leather catchall to throw his keys, watch and badge into when he gets home from work. This is all in addition to the custom photobook from Adorama. It feels good to be done!
I am buying him a bike... I want one too but can't let him know, otherwise he will suspect that I am getting him one. I will ask for money, and we can buy one for me later
He picked a computer that was $400 over the budget I gave him for his bday (day after Turkey day), so I was going to just say "well that's your xmas gift too then" but then I thought about how he wouldn't have anything to open...
So on top of the computer, I got him nice leather driving gloves, a new watch, pre-ordered a video game that'll come in February, some other little things, some candy, and new undies/socks for his stocking. I totally spoil him, I know. ;)
I'm getting him dinner at a nice restaurant, but we can't go until the end of January! Makes affording Christmas easier, haha.
Heroes season 2 & 3 on DVD, Left 4 Dead 2 for the XBox, and an encyclopedia of all the Marvel Characters
Well, Mr Pizzelle really wanted a kindle last year, and then a kindle 2, but I found something waaaaaay better! I got him a NOOK, from barnes and noble. It arives on the 11th. I will get him a few smaller things too, but that is his big present.
We always set a budget of $150-200 each year...I got him two polycarbonate 34 ounce beer mugs. He doesn't drink beer but when he drinks water or gatorade he drinks a lot. Plus I got him new HID headlights for his motorcycle.
these (well, personalized for us)

Also the new bose headphones he "needs" ;) and some stuff for the kindle in his stocking
Shopping for my FI is always interesting since I end up in the toy aisle a lot. This year, I got him Darth Vader's tie-fighter lego set (it will go great with his giant lego Yoda!) And on thinkgeek.com, I found a shirt with a lego board on it, so he can take his legos on the go! It's extra perfect since, I had showed him the already wrapped present and he said "that is either legos or a shirt. Oh! If it were a lego shirt, that would be awesome!" I can't wait for Christmas to get here!!!
