I know my fiance should be picking these out, but I think he needs help. He has a best woman, three dudes (they are manly men) and then one high-maintenance, picky gay man.
Ideally, we'd like to get them all the same gift (with the exception of the best woman) to be fair, but that might be a challenge.
No cigars, no sports-type things would work for this crew.
We went with custom bobblehead dolls made to look like each of the guys. They were a little spendy (just under $100 each after tax shipping), but definitely unique, and we really weren't impressed with any of the suggestions we heard or anything else we had seen. (The girls on the other hand, I could keep buying and buying things for them!)
I don't remember what company we went with, but if you google search "custom bobbleheads" you'll get a ton of options.
My fiance got a "wedding weekend survial kit" from his friend this past weekend. It was a cooler with water, gatorade, beer, sunglasses and cigars. He really liked it. You could customize each on to be unique to the guy (or girl) but still have the same underlying theme.
I would just pick a budget for all the gifts and buy them each something that they'd like. I don't love all the "wedding" type gifts out there. I mean how many shot glasses/beer mugs/julep cups/swiss army knives does one person really need?
1)a tie to wear the day of the wedding (from thetiebar.com)
2)a pocketsquare that matched the tie
3)fun matching argyle socks from JCrew
We will probably end up getting them each something else. We didn't want to go with any of the typical groomsmen gifts (i.e. flasks, money clips, etc.) because none of the guys would have really appreciated those things.
I was talking about it with my husband last night (we're having the big wedding with family in the fall). And he told me he would like to give them knives like the one I got him years ago.
It's a special knife made not far from where I grew up in France: Laguiole. Three years ago I got him the foldable kind with a horn handle. It's very useful and pretty too. My dad always have one with him whenever he is outdoors.
The Laguiole knifes are easily recognized by the fly/bee at the top of the handle, they should also have their origin engraved in the blade as it's a regional prodtected product.
We have to decide if we want to get them the kind with a wood or horn handle.

I'd love to hear what you guys found!
