Hi ladies! I could use some help here. I just read the thread on stocking stuffers for your FIs/DHs and there were some great ideas in there! I was hoping I’d get the same burst of inspiration from a thread about presents for your MIL or FMIL.
So does anyone know what they’re getting yet? Or are there any gifts you’ve given in the past that have gone over really well? I’d love to know!

I made a photobook of wedding photos for MIL, but now I am stuck. She goes big on Christmas gifts so it’s tough to match up.

Christmas next year will be two months after the wedding so I’m hoping to put together a photobook for her for next Christmas. This year though, absolutely nothing. We are paying for the wedding with some help from my parents, and they aren’t helping…so the budget is tight.

My fiance, his brother, and I are getting pictures done for my FMIL for Christmas.
We were going to get her a Pandora bracelet with charms of birthstones, other special events/symbols to her, but we decided against it for now. Could be a good idea for someone else though!
I am getting my mother and both sisters a Willow Tree (www.willowtree.com) piece for Christmas. My mother’s has a grandmother holding two young children (she has 3 grandchildren from my siblings), my sister’s is a mother hugging a young son, and my other sister’s is a couple with two young boys playing. Each piece has a meaning and they are very sentimental gifts for some.

I’m not engaged, but I’m giving BF’s parents a set of Aspen, Oak, and Maple ornaments made by The Rose Lady. They’re real leaves that are preserved and then dipped in precious metals and look amazing. We like the look of gold, but there is also silver and iridescent copper. I know that these are beautiful because my mom got some the family Christmas tree. This gift was her idea. 🙂

@MissMarple: Wow those ornaments are gorgeous! What a lovely idea!
I LOVE the idea of pictures…Wish my FI’s sister and her husband didn’t live halfway across the country because that would have been perfect.

@felixfelicis: MIL doesn’t give us gifts. We are getting her a photobook of our toddler son. She lives on the opposite coast so she’s only seen him a couple times.

We got my MIL a Kobo Touch e-reader. She was eyeing one when she was here visiting but it isn’t something she would buy for herself.

We found a new Santa for her collection (her house looks so cool at Christmas with all the antiquey looking Santa figurines!), I’m painting some wine glasses for her and FIL, a new pancake griddle and homemade pancake mix for their cottage and FIL is getting a new flashlight

All she wants is a carrier for a bowl she has so that she can take it to potlucks easier while keeping the food insulated, but we’re also giving them a photobook from our wedding.
