Anyone have any idea what to get their SO for the holidays?  FI is pretty easy to shop for because he always needs clothes for work.  I'm also planning to snag him a PS3 because he's been drooling for it for quite some time.

Any other bees have an idea of what they're shopping for?

My FI is impossible to shop for...I did find a cool NES/SNES gaming system on ThinkGeek, though - it's compatible with both types of games! I think he would really like that.

My FI is nearly impossible to shop for. He is one of those guys who is like a big kid, with money. If he sees something, he thinks about it for 5 minutes and then goes and buys it for himself. The only things like that he won't buy, are clothes. I suppose clothes are what you get for Christmas when you are a hard-to-buy for grown-up. His mother and I are always scheming to try and get him something he will like. The issue is that he will think of something and put it on 'the list' and 2 days later he has already bought it. Go figure.

J is getting a big helping of I-spent-$1100-on-a-flight-to-see-you for Christmas. :)

I'll probably get him something smaller too though... not sure what. Just barely managed to get his birthday present in the mail last week.

I'm planning on checking out the Best Buy Black Friday sale that has the PS3 plus 2 games for $299  We always had a running joke that he couldn't get a PS3 (we already have the Wii and Xbox 360 in our house) until I got a ring... well he Proposed so it's only fair that I hold up my end of the deal :)

My fi wants at PS3 to go along with is wii, xbox 360, playstation 2, and game cube. I really don't know where he'll fit it but he's determined to have one.

*sighs* but I told him we couldn't afford it this year and he's settling for guitar lessons at a local shop and a guitar that I already bought him (lol--I am soo bad with presents).

He also loves Link form Legend of Zelda and I'm planning on getting him a shirt or shot glasses (since he wants some) with the triforce on it Laughing Etsy...here I come ;P

We're adopting our little bulldog baby Maisie on Friday, so I think she'll be kinda our present to each other.  I'm thinking about getting him a massage and some small little things :)

Um. I don't know. We might do a joint present. Like a weekend away together. We have joint bank accounts now. Might be a little silly to get each other gifts.

@KDavis: you can pick up a PS3 from pretty much anywhere...Best Buy, Walmart, etc.  *Apparently* there was a price drop and it's going for just under $300 CDN.  Oh did I mention it has a Blue-ray player?

@floridabeachbride: yeah I think my FI has pretty much every game console.  I only have myself to blame because I bought him the XBOX360 years ago and the Wii for our last anniversary.  Boys their toys.

@MissYap: oh that's a great idea!  Yikes, I don't know why we didn't think about that ourselves.

I got him the comlete series of Firefly, but I want to get him a couple other little things as well. But my FI also likes to get the stuff he wants the second he decides he wants it. lol.

My SO just celebrated his birthday and I got him a PS3.  They cost $299, and I wasn't able to find it on sale.  The games are pretty expensive too, between $30 and $60.  I don't think either of us will be spending much money on each other for Christmas.  We each have a large family and that takes up a big chunk of our Christmas cash, so we usually just go out to a nice dinner with each other and get each other something small.

Wisconsin Death Trip  It's a book.  Morbid, I know, but he's obsessed with cemeteries and Victorian sculptures.  It was written by a prof at a neighboring college, and FI's from Wisconsin, so it's perfect

I am struggling with this too! FI already has everything! I know what he's getting me, too, so I feel I have to live up to it. I think I might get him a few things - a Mizzou snuggie, a book I know he'll love, and maybe something else. Couple massages would be good but pricey!

I am thinking of buying him a really nice leather belt and a new leather wallet. His current belt is pathetic and his wallet isn't in much better shape.

FI LOVES gadgets, but he is so picky, I wouldn't never pick out anythign for him myself. He needs to read hours worth of online reviews before he even comes close to comitting to buying a new gadget.

I'm getting my SO an ECU for his car because it's what he wants and needs.  I also know that he has not been able to buy it because he's been saving up money to buy my ring so I feel it's only fair to help him out!

It's an expensive part so that will probably be the only thing I get him though I might throw in a video game somewhere if I get a good deal :P

Dizzy, I've been wanting to read that book. I believe a movie was made of it, too. Very cool.

We 'agreed' to go light on the holidays this year with next year's enormous expenses looming (wedding, moving, etc.) but I can't help myself. I already have him a new leather jacket, nice Western shirt, season one of the remastered Star Trek: TOS, and a Batman book. But I really, really want to get him a netbook. He could really use it. I know he'll fuss, but I'm so tempted to get it anyway.

Oh man, FI wants an xbox or PS3, but we set a rather tight limit this year, due to our wedding budget.  I'm actually not too sure what I should get him... Clothes, iTunes gift card, the Sookie Stackhouse "true blood" books... I'm drawing a blank on everything else!

We set a limit this year of £130 (about $210 methinks) so he's getting:

     - rubber duckies cuz he LOVES his baths
     - a silly calendar for his desk in work
     - new sneakers
     - a beginners telescope <---- thats his main pressie!!

I do love buying stuff for him though....have to stop myself!! lol

I don't really know yet. His birthday was just last week, and I spent $130 on that. I buy him clothes whenever I feel like it, so that's not really a Christmas-worthy item.  I just have a few small ideas so far. I am definitely going to order some personalized M&Ms with "JC <3's RS" or something like that on them, if I can pull it off without his knowledge.

I would love to be able to buy a new TV for our living room, but I just don't have that kind of budget. He's not into video games at all, so that's out.  I would get him a nice watch, but I know he'd never wear it.

we go to a theme park every christmas (we're jewish and it's nice b/c it's always so empty) that has lots of animals, and you can pay extra to get up close and personal to the animals and feed giraffes. he's never done it and it's pretty cool, so i think i'll surprise him with that.

So far I got him this flashlight he's wanted, he lost his other one, and I made him a shadow box that displays all of his zippo lighters. I stole them from him, he keeps the box in his dresser, I hope he doesn't open that box till after christmas or he's really gonna wonder what's up.

Well.. we decided that this year all we are getting each other is coffee mugs. we decided last year that we would make it a tradition to at least buy each other Christmas coffee mugs every year. I love it and since it can be cheap it works great for our tight budget.

haha...guys and their obsession over electronics & gadgets!  my FI saw the nook (it's like a kindle/e-book) on the barnes and noble website.  He told me he wants a nook for Christmas...but he doesn't even read that much! I think I'm going to buy him a video cam this year.

I was thinking about getting FH a toaster oven...or is that lame? He said my mom could get him one for his new apartment when I said she was excited to get him stuff for his new place (but she isn't doing big gifts this year, just money) so I thought I would take the idea. But I feel like that might be a little impersonal. He's so hard to shop for.

    Thoughts?

Ugh, my FI is so hard to shop for! He always says "I don't need anything" or "give some money to charity", it makes me crazy. For his birthday a few weeks ago I said I would pay for the new tattoo he wants, but he hasn't "cashed in" yet.

Christmas is going to be absolutely impossible. He mentioned wanting a wine decanter and one of those fancy aerator things, and even though I told him we should just register for them, I think I'll buy them myself, haha!

We don't really spend a whole lot on eachother at Christmas. I'm thinking about getting him a leather valet charging station cause a) he's always leaving little piles of change around my apartment and it makes me INSANE b) his phone is always dying.

Then maybe some DVDs that I knows he wants. He also wants a bamboo lap desk (?!?!) so... yeah.

FI and I aren't going all out for christmas really. We know we are saving for the wedding, so we are just getting a few little things for each other and are going to spend the rest on family. I'm going to get him a few shirt/tye sets for sure, since he just started his new job and rotates the same 3 that he has. good thing he gets to wear business casual 2 days a week! And then i'll probably get him a couple signs and stuff for the garage we just finished this year. I really wish i had the money to spend though because there is this fridge that looks like a tool box but its like $400 and i'm not spending that much on him this year! next year though. :)

He's building our house, and everytime he needs a new tool "for the house," we've bought it. Sort of spoils my buy-him-a-new-tool for every holiday run. Plus, we need to save money for the house (I joke we'll have lots of tools, but won't be able to afford the materials)... so I think we are skipping presents?

we put a budget on christmas this year at $200. we tried to do this last year, and he blew the budget over 10x... but the year before we were successful in not doing christmas presents.

we're trying to save for the house/wedding... so i'm going to get him things he needs: a new pair of speakers, undies, a weight bench, and maybe a new ps3 or wii game. but very minimal. :)

I'm also going to get him some new jeans because he never buys clothes for himself and it drives me insane.

We are not getting eachother anything, instead we are donating clothes and toys to shelters.  We just got married and we would rather spend the money we have on presents for children who actually need things.  I don't even know if there is one thing that I really need in life right now.  I am very fortunate for what I have so we would like to give that back to the community.
