As our wedding gets closer, I find myself spending more and more time wondering what in the world to get him. He has a watch, but doesn’t wear it. He said he wants something sentimental. I am currently writing him a journal (we’re long distance) beginning exactly a year before our wedding and my last entry will be the morning of our wedding, but I want to purchase him something. I quilt, so I was thinking about maybe making a really nice one to go on our future bed. I’m hoping to get some ideas. What are you/did you get your Fiance as a wedding gift?

The quilt is a great idea!!
I got my DH a watch engraved with our initials and wedding date, a pin with a picture of his grandma who raised him but couldn’t attend our wedding because of medical reasons, and a Star Wars bathrobe to get ready in. He loved all of them 🙂

@mrsjordan53014: my FI has been hinting at me making him a quilt since I made one for my uncle this Christmas. I think it would make a great wedding gift! I plan to go in spoon flower to find some very specific fabrics (nerdy stuff he’s into) to make it very personal.

@mrsjordan53014: Even though my wedding is over a year away, I already purchased the wedding gift. FH is really big on cufflinks. We also watch The Walking Dead together each week. I ordered him a pair of cufflinks that say, “I will love you…” “…until the zombies get you.” Not expensive, but very personal and so us!

such a good thread! my FI is impossible to shop for as well. I was going to get him a watch because he has a minor obsession with watches but then my dad told me that he was going to purchase FI a Rolex as a gift… soooo no watch I could afford for him would ever measure up to that! When we were doing our registry he kept pointing out a set of glasses for the bar that he loved but that were rather pricey. We decided to leave them off the registry because of the price but I may purchase a set for him as his wedding gift.

DH got a shotgun *shrugs* he hunts a lot and it means something to him, it also makes it funny because we had a ‘shotgun wedding’ not actually but literally.

The quilt sounds like a great idea, as long as he has a little bit of a sentimental side…
I got him a nice handmade monogrammed leather wallet. He doesn’t really like “stuff”, so things like watches and cuff links wouldn’t have worked. But he uses his wallet every day and thinks of me and our wedding.
He got me (with help from my heavy hints, haha) two rescue kittens!!!

I hunted down a vintage guitar that he didn’t know I knew he wanted. I put a plaque on the back with a line from our first dance song. He LOVED it.

@lolot: His one criteria is that it is sentimental which makes it even harder! Adorable kittens!!
@Shelby81: That sounds like an incredible gift!

I’m struggling too. I’m thinking what I’ll do is have cufflinks made with maps that show where we got married. I’ve seen some super cute ones on Etsy. It works well as we are getting married in his hometown so I’m hoping that will make them extra special!

I am getting my fiance his favorite (way to expensive) basket ball shoes to wear at the reception (he has a strange obsession with basket ball shoes) with our names and wedding date on the sole. I am excited 😀

@Shelby81: Awwww. Great idea.
I have no idea what to get my FI and I have under 2 months to get it done.
I’m pretty sure he has no idea of the tradition of giving each other gifts on the wedding day :/
I should probably tell him. lol
When I proposed back to him I bought him a car, so maybe I will just say pretend that is your wedding present too. lol
