I'm keeping it- I have a few cousins roughly my size who I've given old prom dresses to (they aren't very well off) and I think they might want to use it should they get married and like it. It was only $400 so it's not like I'd make a ton off of it selling it.
I'll probably keep mine as a keepsake if I have a daughter :)
I'm not expecting my daughter to wear it one day, but I know my kids will appreciate seeing it in person and looking at it, etc...
i'm either going to keep it (and selfishly never allow my children to use it, just occasionally pull it out of the closet to ogle) or sell it, because it is really freaking expensive.
I think I might sell it. I feel like I won't get any use out of it in the future. Although I might take picures with my MOHs with all of us in our wedding dresses to reinact the Friends couch picture where all the girls were in wedding dresses.
I've always like the idea of using a piece of your mom or grandmother's wedding gown for a part of your wedding...somehow. So I hope that if I have a daughter, she won't wear it but maybe take some fabric from it or use some of the beads for something :)
I'll be preserving it and keeping it. I used fabric and buttons off of my mom's dress, I'd love it if I have a daughter who does the same.
I'd love to sell it but it was soo cheap, I can't imagine someone not just buying it new anyway.
I'm currently planning on using the matieral to make christening gowns for our future children and possibly using my veil for my daughter's first communion.
With the money I spent on that thing, I'd better be able to sell it afterwards...
i feel like i'm alone in the "i don't want to see my dress destroyed so i'm not planning to let my daughter disassemble it for her own" camp...haha. am i? maybe i'll feel different once i actually have a child who is getting married, but that's a long way off and i can't ever imagine myself wanting to see that beautiful creation taken apart.
Sell it, there are very few great and form fitting dresses for full figured women for sale, so I want someone else to enjoy the dress that I adore.
I don't have any daughters but I can almost guarantee that if I have any, they WON'T want to wear my dress! So I'll probably try to sell it or donate it to Goodwill.
I will donate mine to the less fortunate. I am trying to figure out the best place to give it to. Any suggestions? i was thinking i would post it on craigs list but then again i am afraid that ppl that are not "less fortunate" will just try to get a free dress.
edit...n/m! had the wrong idea about the mission of a certain bridal store.
Im hopefully going to find a bride that's in love with my dress as much as I was! I bought mine used, so I'd like to sell it to someone who's been looking for it!
I am definitely undecided at this time what I would do with my dress. I would love to just put it on every now and then and dance like crazy when no one is around! :)
Mine is preserved and in the closet now. I really don't want to get rid of it!
I won't ever be able to part with my gown. I'm going to save it for my future daughter, grand daughter, or niece or whomever. It will probably be dated by that time, but maybe they could use parts of it :)
Right now it's siting in my closet and I don't know what I want to do with it.
I kinda don't want to sell it. Before the wedding, I was thinking of selling or donating it. Now, since I got so many compliments on it on my wedding day. I don't think I want to sell it.
I think I need to get it cleaned and preserved. And eventually, I'll get to the point where I will be over it or I realize it's taking a lot of closet space. At that point, I'll sell it or donate it.
I'll likely sell mine. I love the dress, but I'm not sure what I'd do with it if I kept it. It was also very important for me to either buy my dressed used or at least previously purchased (it ended up being brand new, but bought from a bride who changed her mind). I want to keep that going by passing it onto another bride who shares that philosophy.
I have answered a similar poll before, but here goes again: I hope, hope, hope I'll have the guts to sell it, as that is consistent with my beliefs about where products should go, but I know I'll be incredibly attached to it, because even now, before I have even seen it, I am head over heels in love with it.
We'd really like to sell ours--especially since we had two of them! Unfortunately, so far it just hasn't happened.
I'd like to make future children's baptismal gowns out of it.
At first I had no problem with selling it, but my dad wanted to preserve it & I've thought about it...I think it's a wonderful idea! I can't wait to show my daughter (hopefully someday) the wedding dress I wore when I married her wonderful daddy :)
lol @ emshaw, I'd probably want to do the same thing :)
I'm going to keep it. It was a gift from my mom, so I'd feel bad selling it. Maybe someday if I have a daughter, she'd like to see what I wore. I would have really appreciated seeing my mom's dress, but she gave it away years before I was even born.
I'm definitely keeping my dress! I'll probably get it preserved so I can keep it :)
Preserve it or donate it/give it away. I wouldn't feel right selling something that has so much sentimental value, but it would be awesome to see someone else get use out of a beautiful gown without the high cost.
I think i want to sell it or just donate it.. im planning to go to the beach the next day after out wedding and i want to lay around on the sand and take pictures in the water in my dress.. so.. maybe throw it away after all that? lol.. I guess i will see how dirty its gonna get..
I picked selling it, but after reading a few responses about keeping it for a daughter, I'm starting to wonder if I'll end up having the nerve to sell it. If I like my dress as much as I think, I might just keep it around ...
