My FI and I are from Kentucky, so we will be serving more traditionally souther foods. Nothing too fancy! ;). What are you serving at your wedidng? I’m trying to stick to the format of a beef, chicken or pasta option with a starch, veggies, rolls etc. Is there like a formula to what we should offer?

@lexmek27: here is my main menu (the cocktail hour is a variety of things, so many, I don’t have them memorized lol)
Salad/1st course: Beefsteak tomato with fresh mozzerella drizzled with a pesto balsamic vingerette
2nd course/Appetizer: Jumbo tortellini in a marinara sauch
Entree: Guests can pick 1 out of 3:
Filet Mignon drizzled in a port wine reduction with roasted potatos and a vegetable
Tilapia topped with a sea food bisque that comes with a vegetable
Pan seared chicken breast topped with fresh mozzerella and proscuitto with a port wine reduction also comes with roasted potatos and vegetables

We are having chicken with marsala or lemon caper sauce (they will be on the side so guests can choose which sauce), roasted potatoes and grilled seasonal veggies. 🙂 We do have veggie options standing by for those that need it. Eggplant lasagna seems to be the favorite, lol.

@lexmek27: Ours is Salad with choice of dressings placed on tables, rolls, Prime Rib with Au Jus or Chicken Marsala over fettucini, both with veggies. Cake for dessert.

We’re doing passed appetizers:
- Smoky sesame-glazed meatballs
- Mini vegetarian quiches
- Chilled rosemary and roasted garlic shrimp
Then we’re doing a buffet with the following:
- Chicken with madeira demiglace and balsamic caramelized onions
- Herbed salmon with lemon-chardonnay cream sauce
- Cheese tortellini in a lemon-oregano cream sauce with onions, artichokes, mushrooms, spinach, and capers
- Wild rice pilaf
- Green beans almondine
- Salad with red onion, bleu cheese, candied walnuts, dates, and Granny Smith apples with a cranberry vinaigrette
- Plus assorted breads/rolls
Cake and Italian cookies for dessert.
Hot damn, it’s close to lunch… can you tell I’m excited about our menu? lol.

It really depends on how formal your wedding is. My wedding is going to be vegan, so I don’t think my food choices will help with your southern-food wedding 🙂 I just wanted to comment to say that if you’re having any vegetarians or vegans, make sure that meat isn’t used in cooking the vegetables, as that’s pretty common in southern cooking. Also, maybe you can do something cool with grits?

Steak/salmon with chef’s choice of potatoes and veggies. It’s a plated meal. And there will be Caesar salad to start with apple crisp for dessert!

I love our menu!
Social Hour: Sushi Rolls & Nigiri, Antipasto, & Fresh Fruit
Dinner: Pitas, Fresh Baked Rosemary and Organic Grain Bread, and 2 types of humus; fresh seasonal veggies oven roasted, asiago pasta, oven roasted red potatoes, beef tenderloin and halibut (oven baked and then pan seared with garlic butter, sweet corn and sun-dried tomatoes). ~Served Family Style
Dessert: Italian Cookies, Fruit Tart, cheese platter with dried fruit & nuts, and a cake (which is a surprise from FH).

We are eating so much.
Canapes – smoked salmon and sour cream bilinis, assorted crostini and chicken satay squers.
Tapas – squid, battered prawn and sweet chilli dip, little veggie tarts and vegetable crisps with dip.
Starter – Aisan salad and confit duck
Main – carbonarde of beef or aubergene bake for veggies. With crushed new potatoes and assorted veg.
Desert – suprise (just in case anyone i know is on here)
Evening Reception- Hog roast with assorted breads, salads, etc.
…..and in the morning while we are getting ready i have been promised a plate of smoked salmon and scrambled eggs with a glass of champagne. Spoilt much?!

We got married last year and I had to copy and paste this as I forgot the name of everything! I just remember it being yummy…haha. We had a buffet that included:
Fresh baked garlic bread
Top it yourself Caesar salad with romaine, bacon bits, grated Parmesan cheese and roasted garlic buttermilk dressing
Heirloom tomato and fresh vegetable salad with celery seed vinaigrette
Grilled vegetable pasta salad with sun dried tomato vinaigrette and fresh herbs
Baked Russet potatoes with sour cream, bacon bits, scallions, and four cheese blend
Steamed seasonal vegetables
Juicy grain fed country fried chicken pieces
Spiced dry rubbed baby back pork ribs topped with a sweet and tangy glaze
Baked Atlantic salmon fillets topped with sweet basil pesto
Fresh sliced seasonal fruit platter
Seasonal berry cobbler with Chantilly cream
Choice of red or white wine
Coffee and tea selection
We also served a late night snack, which was a poutine bar, lemonade, and iced tea.
