Fiance and I are set to close on our first home on April 2nd (YAY!!) and I am head over heels for this house. Of the many awesome things about it, though, I think what I am MOST excited about is the faucet in the kitchen. Hear me out. It has a “touch on” sensor so all I have to do it lightly tap it and it turns on. How friggin’ cool is that?! I haven’t shared this excitement with Fiance though because he already thinks I’m bonkers enough as it is.
Is there a design feature or something about your home that you are wild about that no one else really “gets”?

Ohh I love that!
My favorite feature of our home is a little door between our master bedroom closet and the laundry room…We open the door and drop our laundry right into a laundry basket in the laundry room. It sounds simple, but it’s so helpful!
We also have several “sun tunnels” that bring in a ton of extra natural sunlight – they are kind of like skylights, but since we have a very tall roof, they’re tunnels carved out and lined with reflective metal so they cast a lot of sun down into the room. I love them!

Darling Husband recently installed a key pad on the outside of the garage door to open it. The batteries to the remotes died several years ago, and due to some misunderstanding on DH’s part, he threw the remotes away. So until the key pad was in, there was no way to open the garage door without going in through the house and pressing the button on the wall.

I am OBSESSED with these pillows! They don’t usually all live together on this one loveseat, but I had to see them together in all their glory. I love bright color and nature/wildlife, so they’re perfect for me 🙂

@MissGreenBean: My Fiance and I just purchased our first home this past summer, so I’m not sure if this counts because we actually installed it: our reverse osmosis system. It’s actually made losing weight so much easier because I’ve always got clean water to drink. Best improvement to the house.

We have an offer in on a house (short sale) and I am honestly excited about the counter space in the kitchen. We currently live in an apt that has a huge kitchen but only about 24 inches of useable counter space. It is so frustrating to do anything and there is NO way Darling Husband and I can both prepare something at the same time. We usually share dinner duties and it’s like one has to go prepare their portion and then the other does theirs. Can’t wait for more counter space!!!! 🙂

My old house had the touch faucet too.. so cool!
The thing I love most about my house is the countertops. I wanted granite countertops forever and I love them now that I have them.

@MissGreenBean: Renting right now but I love my large bathroom counter.
We’re looking at buying a condo pretty soon and the kitchen is our #1 priority. I am pretty sure that some aspect of the kitchen will be my favorite thing. I’ve been known to be obsessed w. granite countertops lol.

I don’t own a home yet, but one thing my husband and I are super excited about is a separate laundry room… not so we can do laundry, but so we can hook up one of those automatic/flushing litterboxes for my cat. Oh what a glorious day that will be!

I was most excited about the garage (never had one before) and the his and hers sinks in the master bath. No more beard trimmings all over my sink!

I have a really irrational love affair with the downstairs bathroom…it’s super modern and sleek and gorgeous…and while I totally love it the way it is…I cannot wait to rip it all out and build a traditional Japanese ofuro there…so I love what it is…and am besotted with what it will become…

Our house needs a full gut job, so I can’t think of a single thing inside that makes me excited. But our view takes my breath away every single day. Just driving up our long driveway, coming around the bend, and taking it all in is therapy for me.

I was pretty pumped about having a laundry shoot in our house. My parents thought I was crazy, they closed theirs up when they bought their home. 🙂
Congratulations on your house!!!

There are two very different things I love about our house: The first is the ceilings in the dining room and living room. Instead of the typical 90 degree angle from the wall to the ceiling, they are sloped, which makes the room seem taller. I love them so much that we actually painted the ceiling a pale color to help set them off. The other is our patio, it’s huge and I cannot wait until it’s warm enough to use it!
