I know the sentiment! At four days out, I've nixed everything that isn't done except the veil. (Yes the veil isn't done yet, but that's a different story.)
- cutesy escort cards (I'll just go to Kinkos and make some tents)
- photobooth with little picture frame favors (the Mariachi band stole the funding for that one LOL)
- crazy DIY centerpiece idea that included flavored whole coffee beans (substituting pillar candles)
There were other ideas that got nixed a lot earlier on in the game, mostly because of the sticker shock! I have expensive taste apparently. :P
@jenbrandner: 4 days!! You are SO close! Good luck with your veil! Are you DIYing?
@clarebee: Yes, the veil I wanted isn't exactly sold everywhere, so I decided to DIY it. I bought the materials and made a practice veil a while ago, so I already know how to make the "real" one. I waited too long to order the hair brooch that goes in the center of it, and now the brooch is supposed to arrive via UPS tomorrow. Cutting it very close!
Actually I just realized I only have three days left. Doh!
We're not doing the following that I'd originally planned to do:
-STDs
-Place cards set in wine corks - it's just going to be the plain ones! If my mom would let me, I'd just have three tables marked Reserved for the wedding party and let everyone sit where they want. Unfortunately I've been overruled and will be doing a seating chart :(
-Candy Buffet for favors
-Photobooth
-Centerpieces of floating candles. We're using a hurricane lamp with a tapered candle and a ring of faux flowers around it, on top of a mirror with tea lights scattered on the table.

With 2 weeks out I think the only things that we are not doing anymore are:

@roxy821: we dont have anything for favors as of right now and are thinking of scrapping them as well!

I have nixed cutesy escort cards too! And I downsized my cardbox DIY to one box.
I just realized that no one cares except me about these details and now I don't care!
So close 08/21 ladies... can't wait!

@jenbrandner: when is it supposed to arrive!?! and I agree that Future Mrs Martin could not have said it better!!! The little details do not equate to fun, joy, love or celebration...at this point they are just meaning STRESS and I know we are all trying to stay as stress free as possible these next few days and weeks!!
I got rid of a bunch of things too. I had every intention of doing them up until the last minute, when it came to forking over the money. I decided against programs, shepherd's hooks with pomanders, petal lined aisle, personalized table numbers. I just went with what was there, I'm glad I did! That stuff gets so expensive and so time consuming.
@clarebee: My brooch is supposed to arrive tomorrow. At this point, if it doesn't come, maybe I'll nix the veil too haha! As long as I get married the rest doesn't matter...
We're not doing...
-Candy buffet. At least not right now we're not. I'm still working on convincing FI that it's absolutely necessary.
-Cupcakes from my favorite cupcakery because they're just too darn expensive. At this point we'll either have cupcake towers or a real cake but I'm not sure which. Must make phone calls...
-Ipod DJ. The extra cash for the real deal will cut out lots of stress on my end.
-Photobook guestbook.
-Mason jars for drinks. It's just too expensive. I will instead buy a lot fewer and use them for vases for the aisle.
-Any sort of "theme." Now when anyone asks me I just say, "The theme is wedding."
-OOT bags
-A shuttle to get guests from the reception to the hotel (too difficult logistically). Will provide with taxi info instead.
-DIY tissue paper pomanders

@twista: Why are you going without the photobook guestbook? I only ask because I received mine in the mail last week and I am so happy with it!
I haven't gotten to the point where I have actually decided not to do something that I was planning to do, I am just undecided about whether I am going to do a lot of things or not. But I'm sure that will be coming soon.
I've already slimmed down to the bare minimum in a lot of things, i.e. I won't need escort cards, place settings, out of town bags (decided against this a long time ago), and this is all due to budget, not lack of time. Although as time goes on I get more and more stressed about certain things so I might not want to devote as much time to particular projects.
So far we've nixed STDs, a wedding website, displaying our engagement pics (because I hate them), and a photo guest book (I was hoping to use said engagement pics). There's still PLENTY of DIY projects to keep me busy though!

Its 17 days out and there are several things that Ive decided NOT to do that I was planning on doing - just dont want to be too stressed right now!! I'm nixing:
-cutesy/creative escort cards and having the venue print normal ones instead
-green and yellow ribbons on my paddle fan program handles because I dont feel like hot gluing for hours on end
-fauxtobooth because I just dont have time to gather the fabric or think about where it could be set up
-moss initials because I dont feel like spending any more money!!
I thought I would really care about these things but now that it is so close I am realizing that they just dont matter! There are SO many other details and pretty things that these things are not worth my time and stress.
What are you getting rid of that you were originally planning on doing?
