I know we’re a month out, but I’d like to hear everyone’s ideas! I’m learning toward getting SO his favorite beer and a 10 bucket punch card to the local driving range, since he has been wanting to practice and can use it this spring/summer when it gets warmer. I will also probably get him a card and bake him something small. I also thought about showing up at his house before work with his favorite coffee. He gets Starbucks every single morning, so I thought that might be nice. I want to make the day special for him as well!
What about you guys? Any ideas yet? Or do you even celebrate?

We don’t really do Valentine’s Day. We usually just get each other cards and something small (like $10 limit). He usually gets me my favourite candy – Purdy’s Raspberry Jelly Hearts – that you can only get around V-Day and I’ll usually bake him some cookies or something. It’s just never really been something we’re all that into. I don’t think we’ve ever even gone out for dinner for Valentine’s.

@cb336: Yeah, I try not to make a big deal out of it. We try to keep it fairly low key. Nothing fancy. Last year, we got sushi to go and then came back to his house — I watched Dance Moms and he hung out with his roommates in the living room haha.

@pokie45: I don’t usually get him much. I was thinking about a round of golf somewhere. We don’t do big presents. Last year we made a heart shaped pizza, heart shaped pink angel food cake and sat in front of the fire and watched a movie. I’m hoping for a repeat of that this year 🙂 We did dinner out the first year together, but I’m not a huge fan of it. He bought me a sushi kit last year so I might actually use that to make him something.

Mr. 99 always gets a Nerf gun…it’s a weird tradition and I’m thinking a beer bus tour with friends, since Colorado is the Napa Valley of beer!

@pokie45: that seems really nice.
Like PPs, we don’t really go all out for Valentine’s day. 1, because I don’t really see the need. 2, we have a lot of events around that time. From October to February, we have his birthday, Thanksgiving, Christmas, NYE, our anniversary and my birthday. So plenty of opportunities for gifts and lovely dinners and showing our love for each other. He’ll probably get me a card and some chocolates and I’ll probably bake something.

For gifts, we’ve agreed to do a mutual new cell phone purchase! We used to have the tradition of cooking lobsters on Vday, but recently confirmed that Fiance has a shellfish allergy so lobsters are no longer in play. I’m not sure what we’ll do now, maybe steak, or make reservations at a nice restaurant?

our anniversary is a few days prior to valentine’s, so we’ll do something big for our anniversary and lay low on valentine’s day. plus, i think it’s a ridiculously commercialized holiday.

I think we are going for supper and maybe a nice drive afterward.

We are actually taking a mini vacation to Vegas for the weekend! Yay!

Last year I made my hub a key chain by drilling a small hole in 3 pennies – one was the year we met, the other was the year we got engaged and the other was the year we got married! I plan to just give him a card this year with the penny for 2013 since we are having a baby!
We dont get too into it but i always do something silly or crafty.

I usually make him a card, and we may or may not go out to dinner. Last year we just got back from Hawaii where he had proposed, so it was lovely and low-key! And our dating anniversary is at the end of January, my birthday is at the end of February, so there are so many things to celebrate around then that I really prefer to keep it simple. I wouldn’t mind flowers again, though

I’m going to get him a nice bottle of wine. (: Maybe something else, too. Idk yet.

We are taking the day off to deliver floral arrangements for the flower store that my mom works for. We did it on Mother’s Day last year and alot of money. Trying to make as much for the up coming wedding in June.

I was just thinking abotu this today. My SO has never been good at gift giving. He has trouble really putting thought into his gifts. He finally went Christmas shopping for me with my mom this year so she could give him some pointers (and it worked). Anyway, for this reason, though, we usually keep things simple (cards & candy). We are a goofy couple so I’m actually thinking of doing something silly this year like having a water gun fight or something fun like that. Just for fun.
