I am just wondering if anyone is actually walking down the aisle to traditional
wedding music, like here comes the bride? I have seen so many random songs
and am wondering on the special day, why would you not want to walk down to here comes the bride?????? Just wondering, LOL………..

‘Cause I honestly don’t like the song. We really want to customize our day to our taste and the traditional stuff just isn’t really our thing.

“Here Comes the Bride” (aka the Bridal Chorus from Wagner’s opera, Lohengrin) is a song played as the couple is going to the bedroom. In our Catholic ceremony, it’s not something that would be allowed… oh, and I also just don’t like either. ;]

@UpstateCait: I totally agree. We are not a traditional couple. We are fun and quirky and I just can’t imagine myself walking down the aisle to “Here Comes the Bride.” Very much not me, although I fully understand why others would choose to use it!

I guess we could walk down to “Here Comes The Bride” and then I suppose I would have to trade in my gold dress for a big poofy white one. My bright, colorful bouquet might as well go in the trash then too so I can swap it for a plain ol’ white one. Then I must change my mind of the whole veil situation and get a big long one that just says “bride”! Because that’s what a wedding is, right?
Every wedding that I’ve ever attended, the bride played “Here Comes the Bride”. It was honestly a let-down for me, the non-traditionalist. It doesn’t sound like cheerful music to me, it sounds like noise.
Weddings are different things to different people. Traditions are vast between cultures, age groups, and other factors. We started a new tradition, it’s called, being different.

@UpstateCait: Couldn’t have said it better myself!

I hate here comes the bride. I’m walking down the aisle to the terminator theme

@Carolyn72: I never pictured myself walking down the aisle to ‘here comes the bride’, I also didn’t picture myself walking down a church aisle. We were married outside, and I chose ‘here, there and everywhere’ by the Beatles. Just seemed to fit better with the mountain setting. Not a thing wrong the traditional bridal march, just like there’s nothing wrong picking something else.

I walked down the “aisle” (it was actually a staircase, lol, we got married at DH’s uncle’s house) to Storybook Love on the acoustic guitar – its the theme from The Princess Bride. That song has always brought tears to my eyes, now its even more special to me. And it was a perfect pace for walking down the stairs!

well, it’s kind of corny and cliche and about as close to “traditional” wedding music that you get WITHOUT playing the bridal chorus, but Fiance really wants to seem come to him while a pair of classical guitarists play canon in D minor (pachelbel).
altho, i like what @Navy_Wife did better, lol.

I just want to be different. Not abnormally different, I still chose a very beautiful, meaningful song (Marry Me by Train). The song I chose makes me cry “Here Come the Bride” doesn’t give me any type of emotions.

“Here Comes the Bride” makes my skin crawl. uggh. Fine for others-just not for me. I’m walking down to Rascal Flatts “I Will Stand By You” 🙂
