Was just reading a thread about whether a bride shoold wear a veil, and it attracted the “you’re the bride” and “when else would you wear a veil?” comments.
Mine is the train. I was going to shorten it but, as my seamstress and sister pointed out, when else will I wear a dress with a train?!

Initially I thought I’d just like quite a small-trained dress, but then I realised that I probably wouldn’t get another chance to wear a dress with a bit of business like that at the bottom!

When er first got engaged I was thinking “no veil” but then, as you said, I realised that I really like them and when else will you ever have the chance to wear one?
I also went for a slightly fuller dress for the same reason. I wanted it to feel like a wedding dress, not an evening dress. Again, I will have chances to wear a nice gown again but a wedding gown with a train and tulle skirt? Not so much. 🙂 A full ballgown would have been too much for my personal taste though.

I didn’t think I wanted a veil until the store put one on me…now I’m coming around – I might pull a ceremony/reception headpiece switch.
I’m also wearing white at every chance I get, white for the engagement party, shower, bachelorette, rehearsal – let me at the white(ish) dresses!

I voted expensive shoes.
I came across these stunning jeweled sandals on pintrest by Giuseppe Zanotti & fell in love instantly.

@MsGinkgo: I nearly let myself be persuaded into a veil. But eventually two things put me off: (1) it turns out that my OH doesn’t like veils going over the bride’s face, (2) if I did have a veil I would have liked to use the “family veil” which is very long and lace and unfortunately doesn’t go at all with my dress!

I had a veil and ball gown but it wasn’t super big and poofy

A wedding dress? I think that will distinguish me enough 😉

I never really concerned myself with the train. I wanted a dramatic back. But I was very anti veil. Well you can guess what I ended up wearing? Lol

@RainStorm: Mine’s the veil and train; nothing else I’m wearing is different to what I might wear anyway eg I own a lot of evening dresses and designer shoes, and costume jewellery, etc. But a train is just not really something I could wear at any other time, likewise a veil. I’m really excited about both; which is funny, because I didn’t think I wanted either at first lol

I’m getting my short train cut off. We are having a small casual wedding and I don’t want to deal with busseling or anytihng…and i’m not wearing veil…seems too formal for our celebration. I’m just wearing a sparkly hair clip.

Big white gown. (not huge or puffy compared to wedding dresses in general though).
I was thinking of wearing a tiara or tiara-like headpiece (I don’t at all care that they’re not trendy right now) but the hairstyle I think I want doesn’t really suit that. So, pretty much a big white gown. And holding a bouquet…also something I don’t normally accessorize with 🙂
