I jut started planning a wedding on the Cape and would be more than happy to discuss what I've found so far. I live in San Francisco, so I'll be planning this all very much from afar.
i live in cape cod for half the year, every year of my life. two of my sisters got married there too so maybe i can offer some ideas.
got any questions?
I go to Mashpee during the summer and really like the Flying Bridge and the Coonamessett Inn in Falmouth, Pompanessett Inn in New Seabury, and Chatham Bars Inn in Chatham. There are so many beautiful places it's so hard to decide!
Any suggestions for hair near Hyannis?
Also, I want to do the flowers myself but I am not sure where I can buy flowers wholesale. I am thinking low-maitenance flowers like baby's breath and mums.
Thank you!
Wash-ashore for three years now. Getting married on the Upper Cape and am at the point of looking for hair, make-up, and flowers so definitely interested in suggestions. For flowers, if I go the 'wholesale' route, am considering fiftyflowers.com where bouquets are already made and the wedding packages are customizable. Or just go to Roche Brothers in Falmouth. We'll see.
@lizzyh113: I use a hair salon on Main St in Hyannis when I am there. They also did our hair for my brother's wedding and did a great job. My SIL has long, straight, blond hair though so pretty hard to mess up. Everyone was pretty casual with styles as well. It is a nice salon though and I have never had a bad experience there.

Since most of our guests are flying in from other parts of the country, we wanted them to have the option of taking the ferry over from Boston, rather than having to rent cars for the weekend. So we decided on Truro/P-town, which is where we normally stay when we're at the Cape. The vineyard is really pretty, and reasonably priced, too.
I didn't realize the vinyard holds weddings, that'll be beautiful! We're thinking of having our ceremony at the new church being built on route 6 in Wellfleet and then the reception at the Pamet Harbor Yacht club in Truro. That's as far as we've gotten though (we're still relatively early in the planning stages).
I called the vineyard on a whim, since I remembered thinking last time I was there (before we got engaged) that it would be a beautiful place for a wedding. Apparently they just started having weddings there last summer. They're building a new structure for their tastings (replacing the tent they used to have) and that is where our reception will be. From photos I've seen of other weddings, that Pamet Yacht club looks beautiful too!
I'm getting married in West Falmouth in June 2010. We are having the reception at a family home (using a tent if it rains - which it won't, right?). The ceremony is at the West Falmouth United Methodist Church. We are still shopping caterers and rentals and florists. I do have a DJ and photographer. It's really exciting! We are hoping for a comfort-food buffet and cupcake tower from Eat Cake! in Newburyport. Our wedding will be small-ish (100 guests).
Any ideas for rehearsal dinner space? What about a bar in Falmouth that might have live music? We want a destination for the evening as our reception will be ending around 6:30pm.
I live in Plymouth, which is the town right before the bridge over the canal to the cape, and my family works on the cape, so if you need any more help with the area I'd be happy to! PM me!
Kelliejeanne-we are getting married in Mashpee June 2009 but all our events (and we are staying) in Falmouth. Main Street Falmouth has a cute Irish bar that often has music called Liam McGuires Pub. We're telling everyone to go there after our wedding.
Hi! We are getting married next April with the reception at the Popponesset.. anybody have any experience with them so far? We are so excited:) I was also wondering if anyone had any experience with local photographers and florists? Thanks!
Hi hive,
I was wondering if anyone out there has recently had or been to a wedding at Ballymeade in Falmouth or Ridge Club in Sandwich. I'm trying to decide which place to book for my August 2010 wedding ... any insights on your experience with the facility and coordinators would be much appreciated!
We hired a florist that my mom found on Craigslist. She is wonderful and reasonable. Please PM if you are interested as I'd love to help someone else!
