Bee has this thing for big Christmas trees... last year we went with a nine foot tree:

What are your Christmas tree plans? : wedding christmas B1777351

This year we were going to go even bigger... but our mail order Christmas tree vendor doesn't go much bigger than that!  I'm a little relieved. :-)

Last year we did a gold theme... this year I think we might go silver.  And by "we", I mean Bee... my contribution to Christmas decorations is usually lighting a fire and getting the decorations out.

How about you... are you putting a tree up this year?  What are your Christmas tree plans?

We are putting up a 4-5' tree this year... our apt is too small for anything else. ;) We just bought our ornaments for $10! Kind of excited. ;)

    9 feet! That awesome!

I just get to enjoy the tree at my parents' house. My FI and I aren't home for Christmas (still in college, so have to travel back to our families for the holidays), so we don't get a tree at home. We talked about doing it this year, and we may still, but it will just depend on how crazy things get with finals!

I can't wait until we're done with college and have our own house, 'cause then I'm going all out!

I think we're going up to the mountains again this year to chop one down. Last time we did this though, we were too picky and it started getting dark out so we just had to pick one before we were in total darkness. It looked okay in the dim light, but when we got it home and really looked at it, it was a total Charlie Brown tree. We'll have to plan it out better this year!

NINE FEET?!  Now, that's a tree!!

I have limited space, so it will probably be a 4-5' tree - which is perfect.  Last year, I wasn't planning to get one and I was surprised to come home to the smell of a fresh tree (yay!). If I'm lucky, he'll do the same this year! :)  And, we'll probably recycle all the lights and ornaments we bought together last year!  I think I'd like to buy one 'new' ornament to add to the collection and make it our ongoing tradition.

Haha Mr. Bee...we use an artificial...about 6 feet tall.  Otherwise it'd be too hard to decorate!

Growing up we would always take a horse drawn wagon ride out into the fields and cut down our own tree...not so much an option in Florida!  I refuse to give up having alive tree though, so I have to settle for going to the local Home Depot and picking one out of a bin (I cringe as I write about it!).  We usually go for one that's 6'-8' and I decorate it in a gold and sage color scheme.

We put up a 7.5' tree on Saturday. At my parents' home, we always have at least a 9' tree.

I wish we could have a 9' tree!!!! We got ours last year, its just a 7' one that we got from walmart, but its really full for only being $80, so it'll last us a few more years. FI didn't understand why I wanted a "theme" but it looks so much better. So we do blue lights with silver/white/blue ornaments. And Micheals has some super cute ones, i just want to wait until they go on sale for more than 40% off.

We have a five-foot artificial tree but I'm wary of putting it up this year. The cat just turned one but hasn't moved on from being a kitten yet. I just know he'd destroy everything he touched on it.

@his Barista, my moms' cat actually likes to climb the branches and plunk her fat ass on the skinny little metal limbs. She's 22 pounds..pretty funny

This is the first Christmas where mine will be around a full sized tree. Last year they left the mini one alone. I will probably not put anything within a paw's grab on the bottom. Mine are only like, 1.5 years old and would love to gnaw on some ornament balls

Gorgeous tree, Bee family!  We have a 6' cheap-o Zellers artificial tree I bought as a student (it was on sale for $25!  How could I say no?).  There is no where near enough room for all the decorations.  My family has a tradition that we buy one new decoration every year (my mom has done it since we were born, and we were allowed to pick out our own since we were old enough, you should SEE some of my hideous choices).  I just love looking at each special one as I put it on the tree and remembering when I got it.  My mom finally gave them all to me last year to use at my own place.  I'm definitely doing it when we have kids.  Hey, and next year we get to buy our "First Christmas Together" decoration!!  I am so excited!

@ejs - We mail order the Fralsam hybrid tree - the needles don't really fall out like they do on a regular tree!

We have a bitty witty fake tree..lol. Our apt is tiny.

I've only ever had fake trees and my FI hates that...as his family only buys real trees.

Whatever...fake is easier and less messy!

We go get a real tree ... by we I mean my mom + dad + sister and sometimes me ... this year it will be H too. =) Weird. My mom goes all out during the holidays with decor and my sister and I always help with one tree that is all ... whimsical and another that is super formal.

(and i didn't have one up the year before that). we only put up the tree and lights on saturday so she could get accustomed to it. next weekend we'll put ornaments up, and then we'll see how she handles it! lol

Wowza - that's a nice tree Mr. Bee! We currently don't get a Christmas tree for our apartment becuase we are never here over the holidays. But next year will be my first year away from family for Christmas, so I think I will get an artificial tree to start things off right (I would love a real tree, but our apartment building has firecode regulations against them).

    I miss American Christmas!

I have a li'l 3 foot ish tree, homemade tree skirt, and a bunch of cheap-y ugly mismatched ornaments :( and a nativity here in China. It's hard to find stuff here, since the Chinese don't really celebrate Christmas (it's definitely a western holiday) as more than a novelty.

I'm just glad we get off school for Christmas day this year. :)

What a gorgeous tree, Mr. Bee!  This year we'll be spending our first Christmas at home... which means our first Christmas tree!  (No fake trees in the Yorkie house.)  I'm so excited.  For the past three years, we've collected ornaments from each vacation place we've visited.  We'll finally get to put them all up now that we're married!  :o)

We are putting up a nice fake tree we got last year at an after Christmas sale.   I LOVE real trees and always had one growing up but over the past few years we kept forgetting (putting off) getting a tree.  We decided to buy a fake one and that way we will have a backup if we don't find time to get a tree.

My older cat Guinness will be no roblem with the tree but I'm worried about Cider.  I wouldn't be shocked to come home from work and find the tree laying on it's side, decorations everywhere.  This cat is crazy!

Hubby doesn't care what kind of tree we get, he's Jewish :)

    Oh 9 feet I'm jealous!

I hope one day I have a house with high ceilings so I can do that :) My fh's fam always has a huge one in their great room and it is lovely!

I am just doing a small 4-5 foot that I had in college ;) Our apt is too small for anything else. But Christmas day we will be at my parents and they always have a great big nice real tree...my younger brother makes SURE of that!!

Well I put up the 3.5 ft tree I have had since I was a child. Both me and my sister have always had our own personal trees that we each get to decorate with our own ornaments (wich we added to every year). On christmas morning santa always leaves one small gift under our tree that we are aloud to open the moment we wake up before informing anyone else. The best part of this tradition is now that I am at college I already have my own decorations that I can look at with fond memories.

My FI put up his first christmas tree of his own the year we started dating specifically because he knows I love the holiday. We decorate the 6-7ft. live tree together using lights that we brought together. The first year most of the ornaments were plain plastic bought in bulk at kmart. When I mentioned this he used paint markers to put our names and the date on a plain silver bulb. As silly as it looks that ornament will always be on our tree along with all the other ornaments we have picked together.

I also help to put up and decorate two fake trees at my parents which both need to be child and pet proof. I must say that all trees are fun to decorate but mostly because you not only get to remember good memories but also because you get to make them.

Last Christmas we had a little 2 foot fake tree that was handed down to us from my uncle and that was it.  We still haven't decided this year, but since this is the first Christmas in our first house, we want to finally decorate, but haven't decided what to do for a tree...all I know is I can't handle the smell of real trees.  I might have to check out the link you provided Mr. Bee!

My mom had a brand new 6' one she wasn't using, she let BF and I have it.  It's good that it's 6', so we can reach the top without falling off of ladders and chairs.

We have no ornaments, so we're going to buy some.  I'm excited, but the tree isn't going up until after Thanksgiving.

Aww, man, Mr. Bee - I wish I could have a 9' tree.

I've always wanted to cut down my own tree. Cam and his family do it every year .. so I'll either be piggybacking on their tradition or doing it with him for my house this year. Either way, I want the tree up the day after thanksgiving with Elf, Charlie Brown Christmas, and some fantastic Christmas songs playing as we decorate ... oh, to dream! Of course, hot cocoa with rumpleminz will make a special appearance this year! I refuse to put up my old fake tree!

We buy real trees every year and I wanted to put it up last weekend but I can't find any street vednors in NYC that sell them before Thanksgiving, everyone starts selling them after Thanksgiving so it looks like I will have to wait until next weekend. We will probably get a 4 foot one this year.

We have a faux 6' tree that we love and I seriously cannot wait to put it up. The family tradition is to set it up as a family the day after Thanksgiving. Only a few more days :)

My family always gets the real deal. We go out together, pick a Douglas Fir from one of the local farms, cut it down, drag it home, set it up, and mom strings on the lights with her magical tree lighting technique. And then we douse it in ornaments. There's really not much tree left to see when we're finished, haha.

I'm excited this year because my SO plans on getting one...he considers Christmas trees something you do with family, and he didn't have one for the last two years because of the divorce/living alone. So I feel pretty honored. :)
