Bees,
I'm having the hardest time deciding on another color to base decisions off of. We are having champaigne, cream, and at first I thought a very soft pink, but now I think we need something darker or more bold. I just saw pictures from a wedding where the bridesmaids were in a bright, flourescent green, and I thought it looked awesome! But how do you decide on the colors to go with? My favorite color has always been blue, but I think that would look out of place in our gold tinted reception hall. I just don't know.
What are your colors and how did you pick them??
We changed our mind a million times. But once I bought my Moh's dress (olivine from David's Bridal) I knew green was one of our colors. Then I fell in love with a fuschia peony bouquet. So for our ceremony it's green and pink. Our reception will have green linens but copper napkins with morrocan lantersn. The cake will have a bit of pink to tie it all in :)
Pink, siver and white! And when I say pink I mean hot pink!
Pink has always been my favourite colour and that's how I chose it!
If you really want blue find a blue that would work in the venue a royal blue would look nice with the gold tint - go with what you love!
i don't have colors. i'm too indecisive for that. pink is my favorite color, so i guess that's my "main" color. but my bridesmaid's dresses are different color floral (i said as long as they have pink in them), grooms ties are yellow (i couldn't make them wear pink), centerpieces are all different color vases/pitchers but i'll probably get pink flowers to put in them. spring colors in general are my colors.
Mine are aubergine, burnt orange and gold.
By the way, the first color that came to my head after reading your post was hot pink...with the champagne and cream! I love it.
i'm indecisive too!!! this is my problem.
you guys are right though, i should just pick my favorite and go for it. i'm into neutral shades, but i'd like something to pop as well.
We both love blue so we went with that. My dress is ivory and has silver accents. So those are our colors: blue, ivory and silver.
If you love blue then you should go with that. I think FMM was right and an navy would work with gold...a rich dark blue to go with the richness of gold.
What about a brown/mocha color to go with the champagne and cream?

My colors are coral and blue - blue is my favorite color and originally I was going to have a wedding dress made in a light blue, but eventually decided against it, but wanted to incorporate the blue in some way. I never in a million years would have imagined coral as the other color, but I decided to have a destination wedding and so the location really dictated the colors. I'm getting married in a courtyard with tons of greenery and felt like the coral color on the BMs would really pop against that. And it just struck me as a very tropical color.
Had I gotten married at home, I probably would have done something totally different: I was considering charcoal grey and pink. I also love the combo of champagne and fuschia.
@stephin, WOW your inspiration pictures are awesome! way to honor the fall!!
I didn't have colors...yet everything still went together. If that makes sense.
I changed my mind at least a bazillion times but I kept coming back to apple red with black and white damask. So we stuck with that ...pics of some of my diy stuff below.
I like blue and gold together. Not all my colors went together but it all worked out.
@rubyfalls - Thanks so much. I really love my colors.
I always knew I wanted a soft green and brown...I can't really remember how I can up with it. I eventually developed a country club, forest type atmosphere from the colors. Here are my bridesmaid dresses:
I love the idea of cream, champagne and chocolate. YUMMY colors together!
I really love the sage color and wanted that too. I had such a stupid reason for changing my mind on it. We had a garden wedding and they convinced me the bridesmaids would blend into the grass. I mean I love the blue we found but I have no idea how I let that change my mind.
We had a garden wedding and they convinced me the bridesmaids would blend into the grass.
Haha. This has me cracking up.
Our colors are Brown, Different shades of Pinks and Ivory!!! I had no doubt in my mind I wanted brown but needed to brighten it up for a summer wedding with pinks!!!
We changed our colors a few times, too. We started with navy blue and ivory, then I thought I was settled on teal and orange. Then I found that teal was a hard color to come by a year ago (then it suddenly got really popular!). So we landed on plum and orange, and when I decided on them, I just knew it was perfect for us. We got married in late September, so we wanted some fall colors, but also wanted to be vibrant, so those fit the bill perfectly. And personally, I'm a HUGE fan of plum. I wear it all the time.
I started with blue white and silver. Now I am at black white and silver. But I bet it will change again...
Our colors are tangering, sand and hot pink. I never in a million years thought I would have picked pink but as I was reading wedding blogs I noticed myself going back over and over to weddings that had orange and pink in them. So that is what we went with.
Ours are truffle, champagne and gold - like some of the colors shown above.
My colors are - simply put - fall colors.
BMs and the men are wearing chocolate brown. The flowers will all be in the rust/deep red/dark yellows of fall leaves. I'm using bronze as the accent color to make things pop, so we're having little metallic touches throughout.
Our venue has an "old Mexico" feel to is with lots of rich earth tones that will compliment our colors.
If you love the blue - go with it. I think a navy would be beautiful with the champagne and ivory. If you like the pale pink, you could even use it in the flowers as an accent.
We ended up not doing "colors". I love fall colors, especially the bright palate of early fall. My bridesmaid wore a chocolate brown dress that was a great backdrop for the bright array of fall colors. We were careful to tie brown in throughout (note the brown ribbon on bouquet handle) but didn't stick to a limited palate.
We're doing Champainge and Wine (Or Burgnudy and Gold. lol). My MOH is in a Champaigne DB dress,, and the 3 BM's are in wine DB dresses.
We are doing Latte and Esspresso. My FI and I both wear a lot of neutral colours, so we thought it seemed really "us"With the flowers we might throw in a lime green.. with white.
It wont let me add pics... :(
We're doing chocolate brown and a deep red. I love both, our whole apartment are decorated in those colors. Our reception is at the 100th Bomb Group which is cream and brown so it's perfect.
So where is the reception?
Our colours are blush pink, ivory and black .. Here are our inspiration boards (first is the inspiration for attire, and the second is decor) ... My FH begged me to add in the James Bond pic ... because that is his inspiration for his wedding look (LOL)
my colors are lavender and beige. Were having a beach wedding so I wanted softer colors, besides lavender is my fav color and the beige to represent sand!!
my favorite color is blue, and his favorite color is yellow...soooo our colors will be navy blue, cream, mustard yellow, with hints of green..thinking navy blue bridesmaid dresses with light blue or cream sash, then yellow/cream/green bouquets for the bridesmaids...hopefully it looks nice together..
We going with white and shades of green -- plus accents of either bright orange or bright pink, haven't decided yet!
Green and white just feels really fresh and clean I think.
How did I miss this one? LOL
Here are my colours! It was a pretty easy deicision based on tje tartan that my FI and his guys are wearing. I threw a little blush pink to have some girly-factor in it LOL.
I decided on an ivory dress though (the dress in this is white). Think that'll be ok?
The bridesmaids will be in a steel grey, but the decorations and flowers will be bright pinks, purples, with a tiny dash of orange.
We are doing a combo of plum, sage, and gold...also will have ivory/cream accents incorporated too.
We did mostly charcoal/pewter grey for everything b/c it's my fav color and it was easy. We added in a little bit of a pale peachy pink b/c there are no grey flowers. And tons of ivory b/c my dress was ivory. The only pink things were the FG's dress, the RSVP envelopes, some of the flowers, and the covers of the ceremony programs. Everything else was grey and off-white.
I'm picking colors by not limiting myself to a set! Right now I'm imagining a neutral base with a bright springtime rainbow on top; off-whites, tans, and cream fabrics, with gold, shades of green, blue-green, blue, and pops of rose and sherbet. Yummy!
A loose color palette, as opposed to a finite color scheme, is very cost-effective and works great for a casual wedding.
