I'm OBSESSED with Vosges Chocolate Bacon bars, so we're giving out those (as well as other candy for those that can't eat bacon). What edible favors are you giving out?
im not giving out edible ones..
But i like anything to do with chocolate when it comes to wedding favors or candy! I dont really like the cookies, but thats personal preference!
I just bought the bacon chocolate bar the other day... and I agree!!! It is the best thing on earth!
I am doing Dragees... or in English Jordan Almonds. It is a traditional french favor and since we are french that is what we are doing.
I'm doing little boxes with salt water taffy from the beach where we were engaged with a little tag that tells the story of how we both vacationed there our entire lives (separately) with our families, we vacation there now, and that's where we were engaged!
We're getting married in Savannah (a DW) so our guests will each get a jar of Savannah Bee Company honey. A sweet little favor with a nod to the wedding location!
My FI wants to get the personalized M&M's. I keep telling him our names don't fit though. We'll probably end up with some other kind of candy.
A bacon chocolate bar?! I must find this and try it!
We're just doing a candy buffet for the favors.... although I want to throw some bride/groom themed chocolate covered strawberries in there too!
Oh before I was a vegetarian I LOVED LOVED LOVED chocolate and bacon together! I used to make these double chocolate chip bacon cookies... oh I miss them.
We just ordered personalized M&Ms with our names, date, and 'Just Married' on them in our wedding colors. Now i just have to find some good boxes to put them in.
Fortune cookies, handmade by my (apparently crazy) mom! The fortunes are silly love quotes that we picked out.
Total inspiration from Martha Stweart's regional favors: Grits :) since I'm from the south and salt water taffy from his home state of New Jersey. How to package these two things that don't go together is a challenge I haven't taken on yet!
Chocolate bacon bar?? Drool.
Our favors will be two bags of tea (one Early Gray - his fav - and one Jasmine or Green tea, or a blend of both - my fav) packaged in a cute mini bamboo steamer.
i have a thing against eating pig, it's my favorite animal, but i bought the bacon chocolate bar for my fi b/c he loves to eat pig. and chocolate. he didn't love it so much though. but everyone else says it's very yummy.
we made cookies, chocolate pixies and sugar cookies in the shape of wedding cakes with pretty pink and white sprinkles on them.
We're doing Sugar Cookies. My neighbor makes amazing cookies and we've always gone over to her house at Christmas to make them. She offered to make them with our guests and decorate them with royal icing and our monogram!
We made buckeyes - one of our favorite candies! (They are peanut butter balls dipped in chocolate, for those that aren't familiar with them)
we are doing a candy bar (maybe) and M's cousin is making pralines for each of the guests...
Homemade Mexican wedding cookies (buttery cookies with pecans rolled in powdered sugar) placed in clear boxes wrapped with a blue or brown ribbon!
one of the favors will be monogramed sugar cookies! I think it's cute with a cute fuchsia ribbon to seal it!
chocolate bacon bar?! crazy! i gotta get those for DH to try!
I love those sugared almonds...mmm. And DH likes when we get chocolate b/c he likes to eat mine since i don't like chocolate.
@noodlefish: THOSE COOKIES SOUND DELICIOUS!
@everyone enquiring for the bacon bars: Vosges makes the ones I like! Here's the link
I do have to say, whenever I go to a wedding, and they have sugar cookies, I flip out. You can never go wrong with sugar cookies! I have yet to meet someone that dislikes them.
I had a roommate that hated sugar cookies and anything chocolate!!! It was very depressing.
@futuremominlaw, I LOVE those cookies!! My aunt makes them for me!! Yum! That is a really cute idea!
Tiny glass bottles of homemade vanilla! The science experiment is cooking in the closet as we speak and progressing nicely.
FI loves bacon chocolate bars btw.
When I was chatting with my mom about our homemade vanilla favors, she told me that her sister used to only purchase vanilla if it hadn't been made from alcohol. I guess the imitation stuff doesn't have any alcohol? I laughed and then my dad and I said at the same time, "Yeah, the reception is going to be pretty interesting."
@nutellaforever i had never heard or taste the chocolate bacon... it sounds so goood... ;)
a small candy buffet consisting of Hershey's kisses! (I threw in Hugs too.) They are all pink... so raspberry flavor, cherry flavor, and caramel filled. Mmmm.
we are having caramel tarts and mango tarts (specialties from the city where FI and I grew up).
chocolate and bacon? sounds yummmy!!! never had that before
We're doing 2 chocolate hugs and 2 kisses in pink tulle and brown ribbon with a note that says "Hugs and kisses from the new Mr. and Mrs." then our names and wedding date.
We are giving out small maple syrup bottles from a local sugarbush. Yummy! :-) I was also concious of making sure they were a small enough volume to go on the plane.
We are doing a cookie buffet with home made fortune cookies, cake pops, chocolate chip, snickerdoodles and a couple of others. Oh, and little pints of milk too!
Homemade cookie brownies. They are cookie dough pressed into a pan, then covered with melted chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk, then baked. So simple and so delicious! And I am wrapping the little boxes in paper printed with cheesy tv show theme song lyrics.
I made Oreo truffles (a la Mrs. Springroll) that we put out at dessert time w/ chococlate-covered strawberries, & we gave personalized m&ms as favors (ex.: Jeremy & Eileen est. 2009).
we did fortune cookies. They were kind of fun. It was also nice since hubby is Chinese.
we are giving our guests 2 chocolate covered strawberries. Cute little tux and bride ones in these adorable little boxes
Oh, God...I love chocolate bacon bars. =P I stumbled on these, though, and thought they were adorable. I'm no longer having a real reception, but if I were, I would try to make those.
@ Miss Pinot Grigio...we're doing Buckeyes too!
They'll be included in our candy/dessert buffet, along with maple sugar candy (from where I grew up in Ohio), pumpkin spice donuts, caramel apples, cupcakes and candy that is TBD. Fall has always been my favorite season and now that I live in Florida I don't get to have all of my favorite seasonal treats...so I'm making/having them made for the wedding.
B and T sugar cookies with frosting in our colors made by FSIL! = )
