I know it's naughty, especially as we're not TTC and definitely not pregnant, but I already have ideas for names for our future children.

Has anyone else not pregnant or TTC picked out possible names for their possible children?

I have been thinking about Lillian Alice (known as Lily) for a girl (my grandma's middle name and my FH's mother's name) and Alexander Israel or a boy (my FH's and my father's middle name and my late grandpa's original name). Although I've been a little put off Alexander by our current First Minister.

Other possibilities I like are Margaret (for my late granny), John (my grandpa's chosen name when he renounced "Israel Judah" as his name), Victoria (for my amazing great-aunt if she has passed by the time we have children) and William (for my other grandfather).

I guess I'm a little old-fashioned with names. I like the idea of naming children for family members while avoiding the names of living relatives (as in Judaism you're not meant to name children for living relatives in case the angel of death gets confused and takes the wrong one).

Currently I'm just in love with the name Reagan. BF and I kinda have a silent deal that he'll name the boys and I'll name the girls since we both have names picked out already lol.

I always liked the name Sadie. My husband and I are Jewish, and we both have Sadie's in our family's, but he doesn't love the name like I do, so it will remain a fantasy :(

Haha! We've talked about it briefly. I have a daughter from a previous relationship, so when we start TTC we are hoping for a healthy boy! But, if we have a girl, I'm secretly hoping we'll be able to name her Lyra Grace or Lyra Hazel. He likes the name Addison, which I'm not overly fond of.  For a boy, I'd like to name him Henry.

@Koala Bear Love the name Reagan too! And Kennedy Madison. But, I don't want her having the nickname Kenny or Maddie yuck. I also like McKinsey. But, what if ppl call her Mickey. So, even though Kennedy Madison is my fave, I think Reagan fits better. Boy names= not a clue!

Still a few years out though!

I still love the name Parker... DH on the other hand doesn't. He says everyone will call him "Porker".

Great, turn down the one name I really like.

@SpecialSundae: Vivienne because it's the name of a insanely cool great aunt. Gilda because I have always admired Gilda Radner for her humor and courage. She seemed like a great lady (Gene Wilder married her so you know she was awesome).

We both like Sydney. I also like Adelaide and Harper (but both are getting trendy). So if we got pregnant tomorrow a girl would probably be Sydney Harper.

He likes Tyler Paul and I haaaaaaate the name Tyler. According to him we need a good Chicago Bears linebacker name.

I told FI last night I was considering his proposal that we name our first son Wolfgang! It's tradition in his family to give your son your name and your father's but those both won't fit because I'm squeezing in my late best friend's (and woulda been godfather) name in! FI and I both have two middle names so...might do!

So we decided Wolfgang is actually a pretty respectable, cool name and hopefully we'll have a boy first to look after his wee sisters. Can you imagine? "I wanna take Alice out on a date" "Yeah well good luck dealing with Wolfgang."

So we have some time to decide whether it will be Wolfgang Luke Nicholas, Wolfgang William Nicholas, or Wolfgang Nicholas William!

First daughter is gonna be Alice Olivia. Not sure about what happens if we have more than one of each, but I'm in love with the name Aoife (never heard it before coming here) and the possibilities from there on out are endless.

@LGenz: I'm afraid that if I did name my child that it would become insanely popular as all "unique" names tend to.

Our hypothetical kidlets are already named three ways from Sunday (Mr. McB's oldest sister is forever coming up with new name ideas and we're not married yet. lol).

If it was a girl I'm torn between:

    Ava Kathleen McB

    Amelia Nell McB

    Emma Violet McB

If it was a boy it would be so much easier as we only have two names, and we want two boys:

    William Edward McB

    Henry Fraser McB

We are both big on family/"traditional" names.

DH and I have had our boy name picked out since we were at the 6th month dating mark, haha. Andrew (Andy) Franklin. Andrew after my brother who died before I was born, and Franklin is my DH's middle name and my FIL's first name. I think it was part of my DH's grandfather's name too.

A girl's name has been much more difficult because there's not many family names that I like on DH's side, lol. There's quite a few on my side that I really like, but my favorite, Charlotte got vetoed because DH has an aunt that's kind of crazy. *sad face* So right now the only one we can agree on is Emma, which I really like, but I hate that it's so crazy popular.

When we talk about future kids we always refer to them as "Little Andy" or "Little Emma" lol

Waverley Rose and David Joe, I think. I told DH he could name the first kid we have if it's a boy and I could name the first girl. Waverley Rose is the only one I'm really attached to :).

DH and I have talked names for years and we are nowhere near ready to have kids. We may or may not have a running list going, too.

    Girls:

My all time favorite name is Amelia Marae (pronounced Muh-Ray – my middle name). DH doesn’t like Amelia (sorry AmeliaBedelia, he doesn’t know what he’s talking about!) but I love it. If you ask me, the person who’s pushing a human out of their body really should get the final say in the matter.

I also love Charlotte (Charlie for short which again, DH doesn’t like) and Eliza. The only name that we’ve actually agreed on is Scarlett Michelle (Michelle is my aunts name and I would love to name our daughter after her). I also really like Reese and Gemma but I feel like they're getting more and more popular lately.

    Boys:

I love Max but not Maxwell or Maximus or whatever. Same with Charlie. I love Charlie but not Charles. I really like the name Milo but DH thinks it’s only suitable for an animal (again, he doesn’t know what he’s talking about). We both really like Sabastian Anthony (Bass for short, Anthony is DH's brothers name) but I feel like that could be kind of a hard name for a kid to learn.

I kind of hate all of the modern names or anything that sounds juvenile. A name has to stick with you for the rest of your life. I won’t throw out any names just incase there are people on here with them but it’s kind of hard to take some of these people seriously when they have names that are really only suitable for someone in elementary school. Sure, maybe it’s cute when your kid is 8 or 9 years old but I guarantee that it’s not cute when said person is in their 60’s with a ridiculous name.

@UpstateCait: We have the same last for boys. I love Max, DH not so much. Charlie and Myles are the only names we agreeed on for boys.

If we have any more girls I really like Camryn (Cami), Brynn, or Charlye. DH loves the name Callie. Charlye is the only one we agree on for girls.

Our fantasy son was Noah for a long time but the name is so popular now. Otherwise, it's Norah, Noemi, and Donovan. Lately, FI has taken to calling the boy by his own name.  I hope he gets over that because I hate the concept of a Jr.

I'm in love the with the name Emmerson for a girl, but my FI has decided that three syllable names are too long- even though my name is 3 syllables and the name he chose for our dog is three syllables as well (Harrison).

As for boys, I love Ethan and Charlie (I don't know why they all come from Lost), but they are pretty popular..

I have been naming our kids since we were 16....thank god we didn't have them then or they would've had the silliest, trendiest names.

For a girl I love Cameron Rachel (Cammie Rae in my head) for his grandfather and my best friend who passed. I'm not in love with any boys names but I would love to name one after my FI, Cody, but my mom says it would be too confusing. I really want to name one after my grandfather but I dislike both his names (Alfred Joseph? No thanks...) so maybe just use names that have the same initials as he went by AJ anyway.

ETA: My son would not be a junior because although my FI goes by Cody, it is actually his middle name.
