Hello bees… I’m only 9w2d, but I’m thinking ahead! I can still button my pre-pregnancy jeans, but I get pretty bloated (sigh) in the evenings, and even in the mornings my stomach isn’t as flat as it used to be. I’m on the small side- 5’6″ and 104 lbs pre-pregnancy- and I really want a more comfortable version of my regular jeans that’s still chic. What’s your favorite brand? I’d love photos too if you don’t mind sharing :)!

I’m not sure if you’d consider them chic, but i got some fantastic skinny maternity jeans (dark wash and white) from Old Navy that I love and looked very flattering. I even considered continuing to wear them even though I had my son in September, but I finally put them away because they became too big in the waist when I lost the belly.
They’re 25% off right now! I did have to go up 1 size from my regular size because of the expanding thighs 🙁

polarbee: I like the ones I got at the Gap- they look like normal jeans below the belly part. I way prefer the low band to the over-belly band, but that seems to vary based on the person and where you are in your pregnancy. I definitely recommend waiting to buy them until you really have a bump, and to just use a hair tie or belly band for now. I bought a few pairs at 14 weeks (I was also pretty bloated…so I didn’t really need them yet but I was going to be traveling and wanted to be comfy on the plane- I should’ve just done the band, though!) but now, at 28 weeks, they’re getting too tight but I don’t really want to buy more.
PS Like excitedscaredbee, my butt and thighs have gotten a bigger, too. I’m sure it’s just muscle, though 😉

I got some from the Gap which I loved. My normal size fit fine, they did get pretty fitted in the thighs by the end but I think that was water weight, as they were a lot looser in the thighs after I gave birth and peed out a bunch of extra fluids. They looked better on me than my normal jeans I thought! I liked the over the belly panel.

@excitedscaredbee Thank you! Those look nice- and very reasonably priced! I’ll have to go to one of their stores!
@MrsAKSkier and @kes18: Gap sounds good too! Thanks for the advice on expanding butt and thighs- I’ll definitely hold off on buying anything for a while. I just want to make sure that I have time to order brands or sizes that aren’t locally available…
Today marks day one of ghetto-rigging my pants with a hairtie… And since I took this action mid day, I’m stuck with a bright yellow hairtie 🙂

polarbee: Insider trick: Maternity sections at regular stores usually have horrible selection and sizes available. I would wait until a store I liked had a sale online, and I would order pretty much anything that I thought looked cute that they had in my size. Then I would get to try it all on in the comfort of my own home and return anything I didn’t like. Most websites have free shipping if you spend more than $50 and free return shipping.
It’s SO much better than hauling your ass to the store only to find that they have 1 XXL size of something you like!

I really like the jeans sold at Motherhood Maternity, particularly the Indigo Blue Secret Belly Ankle Skinny ($39.98) that I’m wearing right now and Jessica Simpson 5 pocket Skinny ($59). I did the ghetto rig up until the bitter end but maternity jeans are sooo comfy! Prices are super reasonable and there always seems to be a sale there.

Aother Gap recommendation. My parents have a huge gap maternity store by them so I was able to buy almost everything I needed in one trip. Their jeans were by far the best and I bought them during their 40% sale so paid about $35 each. I bought a pair from pea and pod and ended up hating them and they were twice the price of gap.

ExcitedScaredBee: Thanks for the tip! Given my limited energy these days I’m definitely going to order rather than hit the stores!
Diamondgurl: There is actually a Motherhood Maternity right by my house, so this might be one of the few stores I’ll actually go to…
lovemygsp: … and I think I’m adding Gap to my order list! I’m definitely weary of spending $150+ on a pair of jeans that I hope to not wear much beyond pregnancy… But we’ll see how that goes! I’m going to be gaining wait before I can loose it 🙂
