So, this isn't specifically a kitchenaid recipe, but it is my husband's favorite dessert that I make.

I use that recipe, using the kitchenaid for steps that require beating. I like to embellish mine a little bit though. Before I start the recipe I take about a cup of dried cherries and put them in a bowl with 2 shots of rum and a shot of cherry heering to plump. While the cake is baking, I wash out my mixer bowl and make whipped cream using half a pint of heavy cream, and I spike it with a generous teaspoon of cherry heering. If you've never had cherry heering, it's this amazing cherry liqueur- it's dark and sweet and bitter all at the same time, and it goes *really* well with chocolate.
I serve a slice of cake with a big spoonful of plumped cherries (careful, they're boozy), and a dollop of whipped cream.
I use mine the most to make home-made whipped cream. Just toss in a small container of heavy cream, a scoop of sugar, and a splash of vanilla. Cover the mixer with a towel (to prevent splashing) and crank it up to med-high. A minute or two later you will have the best whipped cream ever!
Also, the chocolate chip cookie recipe on the back of the Nestle chocolate chips bags works great in the mixer too.

I just had a great shower thrown by my fiance's mother and my future sister-in-law. Among the many nice gifts we received was the Ktichenaid Mixer gifted by FMIL! Does anyone have some favorite recipes to get me started? Thanks!
