Like so many others, I'm forcing myself to embrace the gym to get in shape for my wedding... but I'm getting bored with what's currently on my ipod. I'm looking for new songs to spice up my workout. What are your favorite songs to work out to?
One of my favorite workout CD's is Black Eyed Peas, Monkey Business. When I'm running on the treadmill it just makes me want to go faster!!
I guess it depends on what type of music you like but high energy songs definitely keep me going.
Here are a few:
Mika - Grace Kelly, Fergie - Here I Come, Ain't No Other Man - Christina Aguilera, Love Song - Sarah Beilles, Ray of Light - Madonna and basically any 80's pop
pump it by blacked eyed peas is good. stronger by kanye is good too. if you need motivation - try taking a spin class, that is if you're trying to shed some lbs. spin is 45 minutes and it's intense and good music gets you going! good luck =)
Britney Spears is my guilty workout pleasure. "Circus" (the single) is great for cardio, the chorus makes me want to work my butt off. I also love the Soho Dolls, and the Black Eyed Peas.
Definitely a matter of personal taste...
I love "Pump it" by Black Eyed Peas, Missy Elliott (Lose Control and Work it), Nelly Furtado's latest album Loose, and "Supermassive Black Hole" by Muse.
Shipping up to Boston by the Dropkick Murpheys. It was on The Departed soundtrack- so good. Also, if you're into some different kind of stuff, Gogol Bordello is (and I'm serious, it's good) an eastern European punk rock band. Their stuff has some really good running beats to it (as does the Dropkick Murpheys).
Potential Breakup Song- Aly & AJ
Clumsy- Fergie and anything else by Fergie
Just Dance- Lady Gaga
See you again- Miley Cyrus
I pretty much like working out to pop music :)
My two favorite workout songs these days are: List of Demands by Saul Williams and Cupid Shuffle by Cupid. They are both VERY energetic, and I listen to them when I'm doing my high intensity intervals on the elliptical trainer.
Julius - Phish
daft punk - nearly anything, but Around the world is fantastic
bright eyes - four winds
crest - stereolab
little l - Jamiraquoia
These are sometimes the songs I wish I heard in spinning.
I second the cupid shuffle! I actually do the dance and I am sweating buckets by the time I go through the song about 3 times!
I also second Womanizer! Yay for Britney!
Well I guess I'm the strange one here. I work out to a mix of songs from Nine Inch Nails, some are fast for when I'm running, and then slower ones for jogging.
I love high-energy, "club" type songs. They seem to have a natural pulse-pumping beat!
Disturbia -Rhianna
Into the Nightlife-Cyndi Lauper
I Kissed a Girl-Katy Perry
Just Dance, Pokerface-Lady GaGa
Cry for You-September
Let Me Think About it-Ida Corr vs. Fedde Le Grand
Gold Digger-Kanye West
Gotta Get Through This-Daniel Bedingfield
Pocket Full of Sunshine-Natasha Bedingfield
OK..that's my two cents..;-) (got them from my mp3-nice to have on the commute, too!)
2 More Years by Bloc Party gets me pumped up. (That's how long FI and I did long distance)
Tapes n Tapes is usually pretty good for workouts and some Arcade Fire works pretty well too.
MIA- Paper Planes
Rihanna- Please Don't Stop the Music
Justin Timberlake- My Love
Madonna (feat. Justin)- 4 Minutes
Chris Brown- Kiss Kiss
& of course Britney and Beyonce!
I second Britney! Also, love working out to Pink and Gwen Stefani...not sure if it's a "girl power" thing or what?!

Score! I love this thread! I was just on the internet the other night looking for new songs, because it had been AGES since I'd replaced my workout set list and was getting seriously demotivated half way through my workouts.
Thanks for all your ideas, ladies!
Some of the stuff might make some people gag, but hey, I'm just trying to pay it forward here!
Gwen Stefani -- Wind it up and Crash
Kanye West -- Gold Digger, Workout, Jesus Walks (very very good when you're on your last legs and might die!)

Britney Spears -- Radar
Anything by Kylie Minogue
Most Beyonce, especially Ring the Alarm and Check Up on It and Keep Giving Your Love to Me
Katy Perry -- Hot N Cold
Natasha Beddingfield -- Pocketful of Sunshine
Jay Z -- Pretty much anything, but that's probably just me!
I wish I had my player with me here at work and I'd lend a few more, but that's all I can think of right now!
Holy cow! Maybe it's my age, but I don't know half of the songs mentioned. My list is as follows:
"Africa" by Toto (I am a child of the '80s)
"Shippin' off to Boston" by Dropkick Murphys
"T&A" by The Stones
"Bottle of Smoke" by The Pogues
"Little Red Corvette" by Prince
"Scarlett Begonias" by The Grateful Dead
Anything by the group Girl Talk does it for me, and I ABHOR exercise.
I agree with many others that Britney is the way to go! :)
If you're a talk radio person (like I am), you might also consider downloading podcasts from NPR. It's commercial free, and some of the segments (i.e. The Story and Public Radio International's This American Life) are really interesting.
I also sometimes listen to audiobooks, which can be free if you get them from the library.
Good luck! :)

... I love the high energy stuff for workouts. I tend to mix in lots of early punk songs too. I also agree with some of the earlier posts, like using Madonna, Prince and Beyonce. Ooo also lots of early hip hop could be good too like Monie Love.
any Rhianna, Justin, Britney, Christina, or Madonna. My FI snuck some Metallica onto my iPod Shuffle and that actually gets me real pumped when it comes up when I'm running.
