My groom wants to wear jeans and a t-shirt and gym shoes to the rehearsal dinner. I am trying to convince him to wear something a tad bit nicer. His mom is planning a sit down dinner some where. I was looking for at least jeans and a polo. He is so stubborn about his clothes. What are your grooms wearing to the rehearsal dinner?

My husband wore a suit to our rehearsal, but mainly left the jacket aside all night. We had a sit down dinner.

Here’s my groom (in the middle) with his boys – I noticed they all went for either a jacket with shirt and jeans/chinos or a shirt with tie and jeans/chinos, my guy adding a sweater to the mix. Men’s Wearhouse provided that Calvin Klein jacket at 50% when he bought his wedding suit!

Commenting so I can come back

I’m leaving it up to him (just like his suit for the wedding), he hates talking about outfits in advance, plus he’s never worn anything embarassing before. We’re having a sit down dinner at a French bistro so I plan to wear a dress with flats and once he sees what I have on, I’m sure he’ll wear a button up shirt, dressier pants, non-sneaker shoes. I really don’t care though, he’s not my child, I get to tell him what to wear. If he ever wore something inappropriate, that’s his embarassment, not mine! 😉
@allisonh: Does he generally wear the wrong outfits to more dressy occasions? If not, I wouldn’t worry about it! If he does have a history of this, maybe you could get his mom on the task of telling him about the level of formality of the dinner and letting him know about what others guys are wearing.

Suits. And ties. I will put the hurt on anyone who turns up in jeans.

Darling Husband wore a dress shirt tie and black dress pants. It was semi casual because it was at macayos

My husband wore a polo and khakis with dress shoes. The rest of the guys all wore something similar with the exception of my little brother who wore nice, dark wash jeans and a button down with a new pair of Chuck Taylor’s. I didn’t care what they wore.

Normally I’m like let groom wear what he wants on these types of post. But I think that a tad bit to causal as it’s his wedding, and I don’t think my Fi would go dress like that as a guest to a sit down dinner rehearsal.
My Fi probably going the nice shoes, collared shirt, with jacket route. Our rehearsal lunch is at a fancy schmancy steakhouse that frowns upon men dining without a jacket, but we eating at three so I’m sure it’s a bit more relqaxed.
Anyways I think your suggestion sounds better and he should wear something like that.

Our Rehearsal Dinner is going to be outdoors, poolside/orchard seating, and Mexican food. It’s pretty casual…I’m half expecting to be wearing my swimsuit under my sundress.
Fiance is planning to wear a white button up, short sleeve, calvin klein. It’s very lightweight, and some dark jeans.

Ours is casual, but definitely not jeans and t-shirt casual. Khakis and a polo is about the best I can get my guy in.

- Wedding: May 2013 - Walt Disney World
I have no idea what he will be wearing…I still don’t have an outfit for myself, lol. He’ll most likely put on a pair of slacks and a polo or button-down.

Probably a sport jacket and khakis. The groomsmen will probably do the same. I wouldn’t be surprised/annoyed if any of then wore jeans though. I only hope no one wears shorts, because we are going to a pretty nice place and possibly paying for a photographer and I don’t want anyone to look like a slob.

We’re going casual, both of us. The rehearsal isn’t really a huge deal. We’ll wear dressy type shirts but that will be it!

@mrscash: What a great shot. They all look happy, relaxed and stylish.
We haven’t discussed but I’m guessing he’ll go with a button-down, no tie, and khakis… that’s kind of his go-to for mildly formal situations.
