I have always wanted to travel Europe; I’ve been to parts of the Netherlands and few bits of the UK. I am hoping to explore more of Europe with my FH. 🙂

However, what I’m really hoping to achieve before I die, is to get support of friends and families in setting up a hospital foundation under my late father’s name. Back in my home country, there isn’t enough access to cardiac facilities; no angioplasty nor by-pass facilities. Zilch. Their cardiologist is just a general physician with an interest in cardiology. Had there been bypass facilities, my dad would have had some chance. All the doctors could do was inject adrenaline to try stabilise the fluctuating heartbeat from 0 to 120 — prior to being able to be transported to the nearest private cardiac facility by helicopter. A 15 minute ride, but the attack lasted 4 to 5 hours.

However, the cost of equipment is substantial. It could be difficult to hire a cardiac surgeon to stay there, considering the current brain drain situation of doctors & surgeons. A lot of research has yet to be done! The foundation has got to be self-sustaining so that fundraising efforts are minimal.

Sometimes when I see Heart & Stroke Foundation fundraisers, I wish they helped countries who lack the technology and capacity as well.

I want to publish something creative – be it a novel, a CD, a book of poetry, a film… something that I created.  I would also love to run the Around the Bay Race (30 km) which takes place in my hometown, and is the oldest race in North America (older than Boston).  I also want to take over from my dad as family wine-maker, who has been making amazing wine in his basement for over 20 years.

I want to do some good for the world.  Right now that is with homeless and stray pets.  Nothing gets my hearstrings like helping innocent pets.  I do a lot with my local rescue, more in the internet, social media and fundraising aspects of it.  I get to play with puppies too sometimes.

I want to travel, retire early, enjoy life and adventures with my H, be a good auntie to my neice and nephews.  I don’t want to have children.

Right now I’m working on planning hut to hut hiking trip through the Italian Dolomites.  I’m taking 1.5 years to plan it.  I want to learn Italian and German in the meantime, plan the trip, learn the routes, visit all the rifugios (huts) online.  It’s a good little project!  I’m obsessed and cannot wait to go!  2015!

I actually have a written list I keep – I’ve managed to check off a few (skydiving, scuba diving, coach a youth team, etc.) here are a few of mine:

– Make a patchwork quilt

– Visit all continents except Antartica

– Trace my (paternal) ancestry

–  Participate in a sprint triatholon

– “Swim” in the Dead Sea

– Write a book/poetry collection

– Learn Horseback riding

– Adopt a child

This isn’t technically on my list (minus the adoption item), but I really want to be a mother – bio, adopted, whatever!

  • Wedding: August 2013

So all of my immediate thoughts were places that I want to visit! I guess that shows you my priorities! But when I think about this a bit more, this is what I come up with:

  • Currently I really want to “settle down” into a job and house. We’ve been living without knowning where we’ll be in the next year for several years now and the abiguity is starting to grate on me.
  • Feel like I have made the world a better place by being in it. In general, I try to do this in all my interactions with people. Right now I get a lot of satisfaction from my work, in this regard. I adore my patients and I think I’m pretty good at what I do, and I think that I can (usually) help my patients in one way or another.
  • I also really value my husband and friends and family and try to make an effort to continue to build those relationships.
  • Have a child. This one still makes me a little nervous, but we’re going to go for it!
  • And of course – all the places I want to visit: Greece, Turkey, Grand Canyon, South of France/Spain, Ecuador, Savannah, Australia, New Zealand, Argentina, South Africa, Botswana, Redwood Forrest, China, Germany, England, Scotland, Iceland, Vancouver, etc.
