Both my mother and mother of the grrom are wearing "bridesmaid" style dresses. They are not the same as my bridesmaid dresses, but they are just considered that at Davids Bridal. My girls are wearing knee length dresses and then the mothers are in full length so that they don't look too similar. The only problems we ran into while shopping was not getting anything too revealing and age appropriate. The good thing is a lot of the dresses come with a wrap or shawl so they can use that while in the church.

My mom is wearing a light blue suit. The traditional mother of the bride dresses are SO not her...plus she's tiny (5'2", 100 lbs) so all those big huge dresses looked like they were going to swallow her....plus we're having a more informal outdoor wedding. So I let her pick what she wanted. Light blue's one of our colors and looks great on her!

These are all so cute. My mother is not wearing a traditional MOB dress either. She's having hers custom made. I don't have pics but the back is low cute and the front is a V neck. It's going to be very cute.
My FMIL is wearing this dress from Nordstrom. She doesn't usually wear dresses, so this is like playing dress-up for her! I'm sure she'll look fabulous. I told her to pick something that makes her feel pretty and comfortable.
My mom also didn't want a matronly dress. She originally picked out a dark purple cocktail dress, which is adorable, but we realized that maybe it wasn't formal enough. Now she is wearing this dress:
in eggplant with a 3/4 sleeve bolero. She is petite and didn't think to try on any long dresses because she thought they would be too much fabric for her, but she was sold once the sales associate got her to try this one on. She looks amazing in it!
My mom says the exact same thing, here is the dress she got. Definitely not typical MOB!

StephinPA: Girlfriend-I hear ya!! My mother is gorgeous...heads turn when she walks into a room-she'd make a garbage bag look great. But seriously...I had to tell her: It's MY day.
