We're doing a combined parent dance since neither of us really want to spend 4+ minutes dancing with our parents seperately. We opted for "Never Alone" by Lady Antebellum.
My dad and I are dancing to Sunshine on my shoulders by John Denver. He is a huge fan and would make us listen to him for hours on end. Lol. My fiancé hasn't picked out his song yet.
I am not a huge Celine fan, but I am thinking about "Because you loved me." It would work for both parents, and take a bit of the pressure off. I honestly don't even feel totally comfortable with the parent dance, I love my dad, but I hate dancing!
@MapleBecky: Have you thought about doing a combined dance with guest involvement?
FI and I will both start off dancing with our parents and then around a minute or so into the song the DJ will announce for all parents & children to join the dance floor. That minute still gives the photog enough time to get the pictures and our parents enough of a moment in the spotlight (neither are overly fond of attention) without having to "suffer" through the awkwardness of 2 3-4 minute songs.
My dad and I are dancing to "That's How Strong My Love Is" by Otis Redding. FI had a really hard time picking out a song, so his mother suggested "The Man You've Become" by Molly Pasutti - it's sweet in a corny kind of way. I'll probably be giggling the whole time they're dancing.
We're thinking "Unforgettable" or "What a Wonderful World" or "The Prayer." We'll probably do them at the same time to save time and alleviate some of the pressure of being the center of attention!
We did two separate dances. With my dad, we danced to "My Girl" by the Temptations (one of the songs we bonded over growing up!) and DH danced with his mom to "What a Wonderful World", which he claims is nice and short, haha.
I love the idea of inviting the rest of the family to even come up and dance!
We're doing ours separate. My father and I are dancing to Bob Carlisle-Butterfly Kisses and FH and his mother are dancing to Lynard Skynard-Simple Man. Then we're going to have a dance for married couples to Alan Jackson-Remember When...that half way through we'll have other couples up to dance also (:
Ah I can't wait...he he!
We're doing ours seperately. I wanted to find a rock ballad that fit my step-dad and I. That proved to be difficult so I settled on "Unforgettable" by Nat King Cole. My FI is having a hard time picking a song for his dance with his mother. He hates songs that are too mushy.
I like My Little Girl by Tim McGraw or My Wish by Rascall Flatts. Not sure which one yet!
FI's mom is not invited to our wedding, so only doing a father/daughter dance. We will also invite all dad's/daughters up to dance with us after the first minute, then we are doing the anniversary dance right after to give away the bouquet.
cinderella or i loved her first will be the song i will dance with my father with. still need song suggestions form mother and son songs for my honey..he doesnt want a mushy song
I asked my dad to pick the song we are going to dance to.
My F/D song is I Loved Her First by Heartland and my Fi wont be dancing with his mother because she walked out on him when he was 5 and they just recently reconnected

Did you do them separately, or one song at the same time?
What song did you choose?
