Autumn is my most favorite season. I love the colors, the leaves, the pumpkins, Halloween, apple cider, etc. I love that I'm getting married during my favorite season. And I've chosen to incorporate it into my wedding day.
I was reading something David Tutera had said about choosing colors, and he suggested for autumn weddings to have lavender, burgundy, or copper because orange and brown, typical autumn colors, reminded him of pumpkins and Halloween and not necessarily a wedding. Not that I have to listen to what he says, but I was kind of taken aback. I love my autumn colors!
My main theme is sunflowers. I asked my 'florist' (actually an Etsy seller who is making them for me) to incorporate sunflowers in all the bouquets, and then I'm going to make arrangements for the tables to include sunflowers. I'm using real pumpkins to carve in the number for each table. I'm scattering jeweled pumpkins, acorns, and leaves on each of the tables. My favors are sunflower seeds.
So who is using the 'typical' autumn colors for their October wedding?
We're doing eggplant and blues. Our date is the day before halloween and we didn't want anything halloween about our wedding. So we went with what we consider elegant fall colors. Not that orange isn't, but I guess it "is" in a way the cliche choice for october/nov.
Even though Halloween is my favourite "holiday" I didn't want my wedding to resemble Halloween or fall. Our accent colour is sage green. I would have preferred lime green, but I think it's much too bright for a Canadian fall wedding :)
I love some of your ideas though, I can't wait to see pictures!
Mid-Oct bride here and our colors are: Spiced Wine, Black, White/Ivory, and Vintage Metallics.
I didn't want to do anything that screamed fall (e.g. burgundy, burnt orange etc." so stuck with a pallette that's still season-appropriate without being too "fall" for our tastes. Our colours are chocolate brown, champagne and apple green with a touch of pink.
I am with you guys that I absolutely love autumn colors but I didn't want it to look too pumpkin-ish. So I found this picture and it really was a great balance to me.
We're doing a lot of browns with kraft paper and burlap, and hints of ivory. Wildflowers will provide all the color :)
We'll also use cream, green, and some yellow gourds as decoration.
We are using Burnt orange, Brown, and adding bronze to make it more fancy. There are also touches of ivory and deep red to brighten things up. I want it to feel like fall. I really stayed away from any bright oranges & blacks to avoid a halloween look. Here is a sample of my bridesmaids dresses to give you an idea.
Oh wait... it posted and I wasn't finished. I like mixing in the navy and plums with the red, ornage and gold. I am also balancing it with lots of ivory flowers. I have been trying to focus on more "jewel tones" rather than just autumn which still gives you that warm feeling without going over the top.
I'm like the others, fall is my favorite season, but since my wedding is the day before Halloween and in FL we went with some basic colors: chocolate, champagne and blush pink. I wanted something simple after getting overwhelmed by too much color in bridal mags haha Had the wedding been somewhere, where there is actually a change of season we would have embrassed pumpkins and fall leaves!
HI October Brides!
My colors are also probably taboo according to David Tutera but i love them! We are using primarily burnt orange, chocolate brown and champagne. However, in the flowers we are mixing in other colors, sage green, yellow, dark purple, etc.
Fall is a great time of year for a wedding b/c the colors are endless and so rich and i just love them! I can not wait for our day to be here and post some pictures!
I go for my first dress fitting Aug 17th so excited for that too.. okay now i'm rambling a bit...
I think whatever colors you choose will be beautiful... you really can't go wrong!
Love that cake alphajuliet!
I guess I failed to mention that my bridesmaids will be wearing chocolate brown dresses. My bouquet will be ivory flowers with sunflowers, their bouquets will be chocolate brown flowers with sunflowers. So I guess my colors are brown, ivory, and yellow? LOL.
And ankdance21 I love that color too. If the dress were more poofed out, it'd pretty much look like my wedding dress!
By the way, those who do like the autumn look, Michael's craft store is a bonanza right now. I met another October bride there buying goodies too.
My colors are teal, chocolate brown and ivory...adding a little leopard print here and there! The bridesmaid dresses are David's Bridal Oasis with truffle wraps/jackets, my dress is ivory and champagne, the flower girl basket and ring bearer pillow are brown with leopard accents, the jewelry is leopard accented, the bridesmaids and my shoes are all leopard print
And...
Shhhh! They don't know this yet but the guys are wearing leopard print ties!!!!
I know, goofy and nothing to do with fall, but it is so me!
I started with doing the "peacock" theme, but now I'm trying to lean more towards the deep plum/eggplant and bronze/copper with blue/green accents. I'm having a terrible time trying to figure out how I want to decorate. bronze table cloths with eggplant overlay? just bronze? just eggplant? No freaking idea! Anyway, our flowers will be deep purples and blues with some peacock feathers mixed in. That's about as far as I'm going with peacock feathers. They'll be some centerpieces made out of them, but that's it. It's not going to be a peacock wedding! Just the colors!
My colors are Apple Red, Tangerine, and Gold Accents. I got my inspiration from Fall leaves, of course :)
No Halloween colors for me, Eggplant, berry pink & gray here! I love the jewel tones and what a great time of year to use them!
Our colors aren't really 'fally' but I love them! Tiffany blue and Black Damask...but we are having dark orange flowers for accent, I guess that's our Fall :)
I Love Fall - I'm getting married in October too!! I didnt pick 2 colors, I decided to keep it from going halloween-chic by doing a big color palate - Red, 2 shades of orange, ivory, white, lime green, and brown. Here's a pic of wha tthe boquets will look like, and the BM dresses are all chocolate (all different dresses though)
Well - it looks like my colors won't be fall colors at all
pink, light purple and gold
I am almost positive that I am set on bright yellow & charcoal grey. At first I was a little worried that it wasn't "autumn enough," but i absolutely love those colors together & it's part of my vision that i am set on -- which include yellow mums, chrysanthemums, billy balls... i think it's really whatever makes you excited! :)
@greenek2: Same everything - including date twins! I am also using gold with my dark purple, light purple and sage green.
Honestly, the colors I wanted were based on everything BUT the season. I decided season be damned, I would do whatever I wanted. So I'm having an indoor, bird themed, formal-ish wedding with rustic touches - and I think it will turn out beautifully no matter what.
Halloween is my fave... so I love some of the traditional colors. My main color is dark purple... and then pumpkin, damask, some copper too.
My colors are aqua, fushia-plum (between those two), and yellow, for Oct 2.
Pink and navy for us. Not fall colors at all.
brown and green...more specifically espresso and celedon. my girls bouquets are going to have orange tiger lilies and yellow gerber daisies with a pop of some little purple flower ( sorry i dont know what kind) I didn't really want a "fall theme" but wanted to incorporate the beautiful colors
We are having chocolate brown for bridesmaid dresses and napkins, leaf branch centerpieces (which I'm very excited about), and ivory. Our Bouquets are greenish brown and a touch of pink- lots of colors I know, but I think it will all work out great!
Red, black and white...wanted a lot of damask but the budget didn't want it LOL.
Green and white for us -- a mix of sage and apple green, and white linens and flowers. Our room is pretty strong (it looks out over the Thames and the Houses of Parliament in London) so we wanted something fresh, strong, and not cluttered -- I'm really looking forward to the crisp, clean feel of it.
We're doing sea-blues because we're getting married near the beach and throwing some orange in. I'm not making it Fall-like, I'm making it "us." :) My MOH's dress (just one attendant each) is a slate blue and her shoes are orange. So are mine.
mauve, magenta, gray, and black, but if i had known how hard mauve and magenta were to find, we may have chosen different colors.
I love October! My wedding October 23, 2010. We went with black and white. We are actually trying to incorporate a bit of purple!!! Can't wait!
Fall colors and earth tones are my fave- I am a redhead, and I have four other redheads in my wedding party! To complement our coppery tones, we are doing burnt orange dresses, copper shoes, and burgundy wine bouquets. It's cliche but our venue is mainly dark brown on the inside, so I think it will look warm and cozy :)
our colors are shades of purples, pinks and grays

The bridesmaids are wearing wine and the groomsmen are wearing a champagne/light gold color. Also using orange, yellow, green, brown as accent colors for the fall color scheme.
