Inspired by liking NehaPresad92’s post about her new doggy Darwin, I wanted to see what everyone else named their pets and why!
My 4 year old puppy is named Indiana Einstein (we call him Indy except for when I’m being silly). I’ve been an Indiana Jones fan since I was a kid and since he took the name ‘Indy’ after the dog… I thought it was fitting! The Einstein comes from him being a westie with occasionally fluffy white eyebrows 🙂
While I got Indy before I started dating Fiance, we went together to get our kitty last summer from the humane society. We disagreed on which kitten to get until we came to our little fella- he kept swatting at my face (without claws) when I played with the kittens in the cage beneath him and would instantly purr when anyone picked him up. He was also a little bit older than the other cats there (6-9 months). After throwing around different Star Trek and other fantasy names, we came to decide upon ‘Merlin!’ I hope he lives to a ripe old age befitting his name! And Indy loves his little brother.
So, how about your pets? 🙂
ETA: Also, my computer isn’t loading my search.. so this has probably been done before, but not for the last 3/4 pages. So sorry if its too soon a repeat!

I have an amazing cat named Kitty…original I know… She appeared on my doorstep during a rain storm and my Fiance told me we couldn’t keep her but I didn’t to just leave her outside so I decided to take her in….I thought that if I didn’t name her I would get attached so I called her Kitty. Well.. four years later I am still “taking care of her” lol and her name stuck! I love her to death!!

- Wedding: June 2014 - Ontario, Canada ♥ EDD- April 2016
My cat is named Miu (like Mew) and then the cats I grew up with are named Tango and Cibella. I named Tango after a cat on Kitty Cats (a Canadian kids show from my childhood haha) and Cibella after a character on one of the Scooby Doo movies. I also grew up with a Border Collie named Sugar who passed away this past August. She’s the reason for my username.

Blueberry (my 4 year old brother named that one)

Our dog’s name is Buddy. His name was Chesney when we first adopted him. FI didn’t like that name, so we called him buddy while we tried to think of a new name for him. We couldn’t come up with anything and then decided Buddy was a good fit.

@Miss Fish: Cute names! My mom’s dog is Pretzel. My sister, 8 yrs old at the time, named him.

My Chihuahua/Jack Russell mix, almost 4 yr old dog (which is actually my family’s dog since I couldn’t take him to my apt complex because of the No Pets rule) is also named Rocky. When we got him at 5 weeks old, we tried a bunch of different names but loved Rocky on him. It wasn’t an intentional Rocky Balboa connection, but now my Fiance says that if we get our own dog when we finally have a house, we’ll have to continue the “Rocky” theme and do Rambo or whatever else. Lol. Rocky totally fits our dog because he’s a little doggy with major macho attitude typical of Chihuahuas. He’s so freakin cute!! No one has shared a photo of their pets yet, so I will start! 😀 Sorry for the gigantic picture!

My cat’s name is Nuit. We hardly ever call her that, though, we usually just say “Nu”

Klunk. Named after the cat the Ninja Turtles got in one of their comics (my fiance named him). The name is oddly appropriate.
Elwood. My fiance’s name is Jacob (Jake). So Jake and Elwood from the Blues Brothers.
