Just a basic question: What are your "somethings"? I'm so curious to see what everyone else has come up with!

Mine have a theme. All of mine have been given to me by a mother figure in my life. We're gonna have a little thing in the back of our program that tells people what they are and who they're from.

Something old: My vintage wedding gown, worn by my grandma in 1957

Something new: A bracelet, given to my by my FMIL (She was so excited that I asked her, and has already started searching for the perfect item. Even though I'm still over a year away!)

Something borrowed: My step mother's wedding bands to be worn on my right hand, loaned to me by my father (my step mother passed away this summer)

Something blue: an unknown gift from my mom, which will either be a necklace or earrings.  (I'm really holding on to her giving me her sapphire necklace lol)

    So Bees, what are yours?

I don't have all my "somethings" yet but here are the ones I do have:

Something old: My Godmother's family mantilla (not the veil). The mantilla comes from Spain and it has been used at her son's wedding during the ceremony. It's 25 years old and I will be the second one to use it.

Something new: My wedding gown and veil.

    Something borrowed: TBD...hopefully jewelry.

Something blue: It will probably be two items, my garter which my mom has decided to make for me and a message which my FI and I will have on the sole of our shoes.

Something old: I bought a vintage clutch on Etsy

Something new: My dress, veil, shoes & jewelry

Something borrowed: My mom gave my grandmother's hankie that she had on her wedding day to my sister. I'm borrowing it

Something blue: This I am not sure about.. there is actually a little blue crystal glued to the comb of my veil so that might be good enough.

Six Pence: I am ordering one online with the year of my grandparent's wedding. I actually bought my dress on what would have been their anniversary so I thought this was fitting.

Something old: Nothing yet...I hope I get to wear something old! An antique veil would be more than amazing. Alas, I shall see.

Something new: My wedding dress and pearl bracelet with peridot beads from Etsy.

Something borrowed: My FMIL's pearl necklace and earrings her husband gave her years ago. I am SO honored and beyond excited to wear them :)

Something blue: Probably my heels, but I might get ivory ones instead. I am thinking about getting a navy blue garter set to wear.

My something old is my bracelet that my mom has made me... the beads are taken from an old piece of jewelry.

My something new is the dress and shoes.

My something borrowed is my sister in law's garter.

My something blue is a frienship ring that my sister is giving me when she gets here to New Zealand, as my birthday is the week before the wedding... and she has a matching one so we are both going to be wearing them on the wedding day. :)

    Something new: dress, shoes, jewelry

Something borrowed: ? one of my BM's offered me her veil but as my dress is ivory and a very different style from her dress I declined it...  and I am thinking of going veil-less...

I'm still in the planning stages, but here's what I'm thinking for the old and borrowed categories.

Something old: I'm making my bouquet out of my granny's old buttons. When she passed away, my mom gave them to me. I'm so excited to be using them in such a special way.

Something borrowed: I'm hoping my mom will let me borrow my granny's gold anniversary band. Truthfully, I'd really like to wear the going steady ring my mom received from my dad, but it's a bit too big for my hand and it's silver. (My ring and jewelry are all rose gold/bronze.) I may try to incorporate it another way though.

    I don't have everything yet:

    Something New: My dress

Something Borrowed:  My Grandmother's rosary that was handmade in Portugal, it will be wrapped around my bouquet along with my Papa's (who has passed) wedding ring.  It could also technically encompass something blue, because the beads are blue and green.

Something old: my e-ring (was my mother's)

Something new: almost everything (dress, shoes, earrings, bracelets)

Something borrowed: hum, if I carry a purse, it will be my great-grandmothers, but does it count as borrowed if she's passed? The flowers in my hair are borrowed from mother Earth...

    Something blue: my garter

Old: Prob my trusty old watch (which also has a blue face!)

    New: Dress, accessories etc etc

Borrowed: Gotta figure this part out...drawing a blank so far. Maybe some jewelry from my mom

Blue: I love the idea of "I do" on the bottom of my shoes so I'll do that with the leftover blue crystals from my strass project!

I don't know what all of my "somethings" will be, but here's what I have so far:

Something Old: A strip from my grandmother's 1947 wedding dress to wrap my bouquet.  It's lovely and vintage-y and my mother wore it when she married my dad, but I have five girl cousins and none of us feel that this gorgeous, long sleeved, satin gown is "us", so none of us planned to wear it.  My mom instead offered that we have the skirt and train of the dress cut into five sections so each of us can have a piece of our Nonnie's dress to wrap our bouquets on our wedding days.  It's a nice way for each of us to have our grandmother's dress with us, so there's no fighting over who wants to wear it (even though no one would have, realistically).

Something New: My gorgeous lace gown

Something Borrowed: Unsure.  It will be something of my mom's, probably a piece of jewelry that my dad gave her.

Something Blue: Still a bit undecided, but I think I'm having my seamstress use blue thread to sew "_____ & ______ June 8th, 2012" on the underside of my dress.  I thought I would do the blue crystal "I DO" on the bottom of my shoes, but I actually think I'm going to buy a pair of shoes that I'll wear again and again after the wedding (class nude pumps!)

Oo I like this one - my somethings are mostly decided except for my blue.  They are:

Old: A hair barrett that belonged to my great, great grandmother (I'm planning to   wear my hair 1/2 up and use this to fasten it)

    New: Dress, etc

Borrowed: Most likely my mom's wedding veil, as long as it matches my dres(crossed fingers)

Blue: Either blue shoes or a blue garter ... potentially both if I can find the right pair of shoes.  Why are navy shoes so hard to find?

And I'm thinking of putting a nickel in my shoe for the "silver sixpense" part, I think a nickel is the closest monetary value to a sixpense ... and it's silver, too!
