I'm baking cookies and using a heart shaped cookie cutter, but Jeff Dunham is gonna be in Daytona on Sunday so He's really getting his DVD, with the tickets inside...It was gonna be Cirque Tickets but he already bought them for the entire family for Christmas...I was bummed that he beat me to it! But since he broke his neck, I think this wiil be way better cuz all he has to do is laugh!!! =)
We agreed on no gifts and making each other dinner, cause we're both broke ;)
I'm so glad that this is our plan because I hate picking out gifts for men. And I think it will be really fun and romantic :)
Agreed, I have such a terrible time thinking of something to do for my guy for Valentines. Its hard for something thats romantic but not mushy or super girly.
12hrs of meetings for me on the 14th :(
we dont make a big thing about V day but i do know hes bought me a gift card from my local spa as i busted him when i walked in for my monthly facial last week. dont know how much its for but my facialist said at least 3 times i "have a very generous husband" :)
im taking him to sunny queensland this weekend so i might buy him something when we're looking around - otherwise i make him a special valentines lunch for his lunch box, last year was home made pink bread cut into love hearts and choc dipped heart shaped cookies. the guys in his office teased him but i know he loved it
we most probably wont go out for dinner so a quite one at home with a tiny chocolate cake for 2 for dessert
@Ms.Ninja: I'm not a V-day kind of girl. But I do like when FH gets us chocolate covered fruit (apples, strawberries, etc.). He's done that every year since we've been together - that's enough for me :)
We are staying in this year. ;) We usually go out, but we decided we're going to do our Valentine's dinner out on a different day to skip the crowds and whatnot. FI is cooking. :) I'm going to go get him some chocolate from our favorite chocolate shop in town (yes, he likes chocolate more than me.)
We're making dinner (salad, smoked salmon and corn chowder, pan roasted sea bass over risotto, and chocolate cherry upside down cakes). FI is making hints about flowers, but we aren't doing gifts unless the Bruce Springsteen cheap seat tickets open up soon.
We aren't celebrating till the 16th.. We are going to Ripley's Believe it or Not for him and watching The Vow for me, scoping out Santa Monica engagement photo spots, and a nice dinner in LA. :)
2 meetings, 4 hours of class, lots of homework & not seeing my fiance because we are 5 hours apart :/ we don't usually celebrate valentines day anyways because I really hate how over played it is but I do wish I was at least able to see him!
We can't celebrate until the 21st... FI is gone on a very long work trip... :( so sadly all I get is a phone conversation. I'm not much of a V-day person anyways...
We are going to be in on vacation for Valentine's day & my Birthday! (the 21st) We're traveling through Guatemala for 10 days, we leave next monday. I'm so excited!
I am babysitting, and DH has class. He's several hours away in school right now, so we'll be doing our own thing that day, I guess! We have never been much into V-Day anyways, so it really doesn't bother me.
I have NO idea what we are doing...((squuueeeeeeel)) Haha. Not that I think there is a special ring in my future ((pleas please please)) or anything. LOL!
I was going to start a new job and not have Tues/Weds off and my SO told me "aww well, that will ruin my plans but we can still have a great night together!" So I have no idea what he has planned, at ALL. We never get eachother gifts unless he surprises me with jewelry. I am going to go get some lingerie ;) meoowww! And I'm going to make cheesecake filled strawberries with oreo crust!! omg yum. I don't know if he has something planned or what, but I dont have a clue.
No idea yet. Day of Vday I normally cook a nicer than usual dinner. I will probably set the table with the good china etc.
We then usually do something else on an off day, like a nice dinner out.
But this year I want to get him something, but I have no idea what. And time is running out! If I had an extra 5K I would get him a new guitar... but that is not going to happen.
No gift-gifts since he just bought us a HOUSE but I got him a little something edible because I know he'll buy flowers. We'll go to Melting Pot for cheese and chocolate happy hour, then come home and go into a food coma at 7 pm hehe.
We had a last minute plan change and had to move ours up to this past weekend since we won't be seeing eachother on or near valentines day.
We went to the lake (Hot Springs, Ar) where his family owns a lakehouse, I made red-velvet pancakes with dark chocolate chips, whipped cream and powdered sugar for breakfast (thank you pinterest). I tried to surprise him but didn't realize that there was a skill to making pancakes and since I had never made them before he had to help me.
Then we went to the horse races and 'bet' on the horses aka made bets against eachother, with no money. We went out to eat, rented "Midnight in Paris" from redbox and ate chocolates in bed.
The next day we walked around antique stores and the downtown area before taking our dog to Garvan Gardens (a botannical garden) to walk around for a few hours. We finished off the weekend with the final Pirates movie and then he drove me home before he drove 2 hours home.
I actually hadn't gotten a chance to finish my gift for him yet (I'm embroidering him something, he thinks I 'ordered' something off the internet) so I'll mail it to him this weekend. He brought me a dress and shoes which I adore.
My FI and I are 4,000 miles apart at the moment - so we're not going to be doing anything for Valentines Day. I'll most likely spend my evening watching the Bulls game and eating an entire bag of conversation hearts!
We're long distance, so on Valentine's Day I'll be handing in two papers while he gets his F class license and crams for his board exam. But I start my reading week on the 16th, so I'll take the midnight bus to visit him, so we'll have dinner and just spend time together to celebrate then.

I just know I'll be spending time with FI. (I'll be staying at his place all week actually.) He's not really big on gifts for himself. I might see about getting him a card or a box of his favorite candy IF I get the chance.
FI is actually a guy I had originally dated in high school. He would've been a freshman when I met him, and I would've been a junior. I met him at the Winter Homecoming. He and I went out occasionally after that and saw more of each other. By the time my senior year started we were officially an "item" but broke up a little over a month before my graduation. That was in 2003. In all the time between our breakup and when we reconnected in July of this year via Facebook (we re-established the relationship in August and got engaged shortly before Halloween), I had been dead single (and therefore had no "right" to celebrate V-day) the whole time (though there were some guys I was interested in, one of whom turned out to feel the same way about me, but he and I were never able to get together to figure out whether or not we should pursue our feelings for one another; he moved onto someone else after I re-established my relationship with now FI), whereas FI had been in various relationships that ended up not working out for one reason or another.
I'm thinking if we don't do anything else, we'll cuddle/make out throughout the day. (And I'll probably fix myself up to look sexy for him. There is at least one look I know he likes on me, but I won't go into details here.)
I'm probably gonna cry and eat a ton of chocolate. DH just deployed 10 days ago and I miss him like crazy...and I can't send him a care package or anything because they are not releasing the address where he is at.
Hm, chick flick and a glass of wine, anyone?? :-)
I'll make a nice dinner like lobster and steak with asparagus and mashed potatoes. Maybe some creme brulee for dessert?
I already gave him his Valentines gift. He really wanted a record player so he could play all these vinyl reocrds he found at his grandparents house. It was more of an I love you and want to buy you a present type of gift than a Valentines present. I don't like all those sappy chotskies that are sold for Valentine's day. Well except for the chocolates. I love chocolate.
FI will probably get me chocolates and a small gift.
@wbninja: I'm sorry your DH just deployed.
Sending hugs your way. Eat some icecream and just be happy int he knowledge that he loves you.
I will be working, (I'm a Chef) Making sure that all you sweethearts out there have an amazing meal to celebrate such a special day :)
Unfortunately I have a midterm that night so we'll be celebrating another day, probably the Friday after. We're doing couple's massages, a romantic dinner out and maybe a movie with wine after at home :)

Hey all!
Ms. Ninja here! Just writing a little post to ask what everyone is planning on doing for their significant others for Valentines?
Surprises, gifts, fancy dinner? Whats on your docket?
I feel as though I may be running out of ideas to surprise my fiancé, and thought I may see what other people are doing!
