So we have worked with a couple different banks with mortages and my husband and I having money and credit cards in different places. Thought it'd be good to get some feedback from other ladies where they've had good experiences.  No reason to give business to crappy lenders.

So far we really enjoy USAA and ING (an online bank) and found them extremely easy to work with and great services.

PNC and M&T have been convenient, depends on the service for whether you'll get good rates, but they're local and have been easy to work with.

Capital one we just need to cancel, my husband has it as a credit card and it's just horrible.  They literally change the date that things are due from month to month.  They have just seemed like rule changing thieves (sorry, not exactly a positive review).

Wells Fargo was by far the worst bank I have ever worked with. The worst experience ever! And I have heard that from other people too.

Our mortgage just recently got sold to Chase, so we will see how that goes!

i agree that capitol one credit cards are awful!! FI has a credit card through them that he's had for a couple of years. he lost his job a few months ago and got behind on payments. im not on this count at all and somehow they got my number earlier this week. they keep calling and calling and ive told them that FI is in basic training and theres nothing i can do. oh and the guy that i talked to had the nerve to ask, "Well, who's paying your bills?" i was LIVID! i said "UM THATS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS!!" ooh i was mad. i dont even know how they got my number!!

but other than that, we use wachovia for all of our banking. theyve always been really great and really helpful!

I work at a credit union and i definately think that if you have a local credit union that you should go with thewm because they usually have the best member service and the best rates on everything. I have heard nothing but horrible stories about Wells Fargo so its funny you mention that rosie girl.

The financing on our new to us car is through Wachovia Dealer turn Wells Fargo. EEP! Bummed to hear that they are not so great?

We have a Citibank Credit Card and I hate it!!! Can't wait to get rid of it!

FI had Charter One/Citizens Bank and they SUCKED.

We do almost all our banking with Wells Fargo, and we've always had good experiences with them.

I have only had bad experiences with Bank of America and Chase.  Both of them just have awful customer service.

I second Aug8Bride... I have Bank of America and love it. I am a student thought so I get special offers that I normally wouldn't get without having to pay for.

My favorite thing is the "keep the change" program. Everytime you use your debit card, the round the change to the next dollar and put it in your savings account. At the end of every year they double the amount you have earned (up to like $200 or something). It has slowly but surely made me few a hundred dollars in the past couple of years! Especially works well at the gas pump when I can stop the pump at "30.01" and get 99 cents!! :)

I recently got an account with Chase. They treat me like the richest woman in town, although my earnings are small. I have had bad blood with banks (meaning I messed up my accounts) and still Chase is so courteous, gave me my first order of checks (not the cheapies either) and are really helpful like when I accidentally made a purchase with their debit card the day before payday, and returned it immediately so I could pay with  my other debit card from other bank (I'm canceling that one today to avoid further occasion). I love Chase!

HSBC (Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation) is a international bank; they have personal banking, corporate banking, mortgages, life insurance, etc.

The thing I love about HSBC is their customer service. They have always been nothing but fantastic to me, whether on the phone (even the people overseas!) or at my local branches. They're great about overdraft fees, fraud protection. For instance the second they notice some weird spending on our account the fraud department will call us up to double check we did indeed make those purchases. You can manage all your accounts online from one location, I do so with our checking, savings and mortgage accounts.

Can't say enough good things about them!

Their motto is "The World's Local Bank". And I can't agree more because while they are a international banking corporation they have the feel of a small bank.

I have had no problems w/ BOA but I have never overdrafted or anything to that extent. I still have a "Student" checking account. Now since I am married, I think me and the hubs are gonna switch over to USAA since I am not eligible for it. Smile Anyone particularly like USAA?

What about a small hometown bank?  My tellers and lenders all know me, and I have used the same bank while living all over the country.

I have a Chase card and am THRILLED. They are very wonderful with customer service--they call occassionally to check on me/my purchases, they have automatic notification for out of town stuff, and my mom has had fraud a few times and they've been super easy for her to deal with and don't buck her. I dumped my Bank of America card awhile ago. They are just not helpful EVER. I use US Bank for regular banking but they aren't all over the states necessarily.

I hate, hate, hate Chase. Now, that is largely because I was a WaMu customer, and got moved over after they collapsed. Maybe Chase is decent compared to most banks, but they dropped a lot of what I like about WaMu, and don't offer many services that I know are available elsewhere.

Just as examples, we have an automatic payment of our mortgage. It used to go out the first of the month. Payday is on the last day of the month, so sometimes the automatic deposit doesn't clear until the first in the afternoon, while the mortgage would go out in the morning of the same day. With WaMu, not a big deal. If a check cleared that day or you trasnferred money to cover the cost the same day, no charges, nothing. Chase does not give you that courtesy. The first month their policies took control, we had the mortgage go out and the paycheck clear within two hours of eachother...and still paid a fee. It isn't a huge deal, but we had to adjust all of our bills so that they won't go out as close to pay day.

Second major annoyance: they moved over to check scanning at the ATM, as opposed to putting a check in the envelope. You now no longer have the option even of putting it in an envelope. This is fine, except they can't scan my work reimbursement checks issed by another major bank. I have to walk in and speak to a teller to make a deposit.

WaMu also did not charge a fee on their end to use a non-WaMu ATM. That is gone as well, though I seem to have heard that doesn't apply everywhere.

Long story short, the simple courtesies I had with WaMu are gone. I have my car loan, insurance, and credit card with USAA, and after we get married, I'm switching the banking over to them and will just use a small savings account with a credit union for the few times a year I need teller service. If USAA is available to you through you, your FH's, or a parents' military service, I HIGHLY recommend it. Dealing with them has been a pleasure, and my parents have happily used their services for 30 years. I even pay a higher auto insurance price to be with them just because I'm so happy with their service.

I have a credit card with American Express and it's great.  They were wonderful when my card was stolen and now they are very vigilant about suspicious activity on my account.

As for a regular bank, we use E*Trade for our banking.  They have been pretty good so far, they reimburse ATM fees so it doesn't matter that they aren't local.

I do not like Citibank at all.  They allowed someone to steal $600 from me in a location far away from my home.  They should have caught the suspicious activity in my opinon.

When I lived in PA, I had Wachovia.  I liked them.

Now that I live in WA, I have US Bank.  I like them, too.

When I moved here I thought about Bank of America but I heard some bad things about them.  I also work with someone who used to work for Bank of America and she doesn't even bank with them!

i use a credit union too! I've been part of a cu for about 15 years now and i love it!  All my car loans have been through credit unions....

I use ING for savings. i find that i'm able to save more if i can't readily access that money.

Home Loans are another matter.  The home loans I've gotten have been thru either: Indymac, Chase, or ING. they have the best rates and i've never had a problem with any of them.

@yrret: Yup, they do!  It only has checking now but the checking makes up to .15% on balances over $5,000 and unlimited withdrawals from any ATM in the US for free.  You are basically charged a fee at the ATM but they reimburse it right away.

STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM CHASE AS POSSIBLE!!! My Dad's retired but used to work in bank fraud investigation for Barclays & Bank of NY  - Chase bought both, so our accounts carried over. In the past 3 years we've had a LOT of problems with them.

A few months ago ALL the accounts under my Dad's name and the accounts his name was associated with (mine, my bros, my Aunt's) were entirely cleaned out!  They allowed someone to change the address, get new debit cards with new passwords created all over the phone. When they called to confirm the change of address, they called the guy who changed it!! They even applied to take out a 2nd loan on my parent's mortgage.

Chase returned the $ and sent a letter saying they re-activated our debit cards. Yeah, they re-activated the cards the creep had!! He hit again before we could fix it. We got our money back again, changed account #'s flagged the accounts so that someone has to physically go into a branch & show ID in order to change any information or make a transaction. Chase again allowed someone to make a change of addresses - AGAIN over the phone!! Luckily this time we caught it before they had a chance to take any $ out. My dad removed ALL our $ from Chase and closed out all the accounts. Now, was it an inside job? Maybe. But Chase customer service was a pain in the butt the whole way. My Dad was fuming since this was basically his field before he retired.

FI loves Bank of America. I stuck my cash in a passbook savings account for now. You have to walk into the bank with a particular book in hand otherwise, no dice.

Lesson of the day: Chase sucks big ol donkey-alls!

I have to agree with Neato Anedo! Bank of America has been such a great bank for me. I had the student bank account as well. I have been with BOF for all of my banking and I have had exceptional service. I've never had a problem with them. I love all the different services they offer.

I also read that most of you don't like Wells Fargo. Weird thing is, is that my entire family had bad experiences with them as well. But when I bought my house they bought my loan from the bank I previously had my mortgage through and I have had no complaints with any of it. I'm not sure if its because its a mortgage and not an everyday bank account of what, but they really have been awesome.
