i did just read let the great world spin, which was good, but also sad.

jeez, i need to read something happy.

Am I ever reading just one book? I'm awful at sticking to just one, and the result is that I don't finish reading any of them. Well, right now I'm between Wuthering Heights and World War Z. It's quite the contrast between the two!

I've been reading The Whisperers: Private Life in Stalin's Russia but I think I need to move on to something more uplifting for the duration of the holiday season because it's depressing me.

I really enjoyed the second half of Wuthering Heights.  I read The Poisonwood Bible probably 10 years ago, but remember thinking it was a really good book.

I didn't get the fuss over Water for Elephants.  Maybe I missed something, but I thought it was pretty average.

@LGenz: Loved, loved, loved The Help! Enjoy!

My book club is reading Half Broke Horses by Jeannette Walls this month. I thought it was great. I had never read her memoir, The Glass Castle, which came out a few years ago, so I quickly devoured that as well. These are enthralling books and quick reads. Highly recommend them both!

Now I'm reading House Rules by Jodi Picoult for something totally different. :)

Just finished The Help. I really liked it. Really liked the different vantage points.

    @Pia2010:

I just couldn't get into The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo! I tried but it just dragged on for me.

Next on the list is One Day by David Nicholls

Count me as another one who loved The Help.

Right now I'm reading Marriage, A History, by Stephanie Coontz.  It's a scholarly look at the history of marriage.  I thought it'd be interesting to read as a newlywed.

I'll admit I'm totally reading some good old fashion 'chicklit' lol. I'm reading "mini-shopaholic" by Sophie Kinsella--of the Shopaholic Series haha.  BUT, I read "The Help" and it was REALLY good, so I allowed myself to a single trashy read =)

I finished Kane and Able by Jeffrey Archer couple weeks ago and having that feeling where you're sad you finished a great book, you miss the characters, you wish there were 500 more pages of it...I'll probably try another another book by the same author soon and hope it will live up to this. For now, I'm reading an old reliable favorite that won't let me down: Reading the Hobbit for the third time.

I'm trying to find something new too, but I've already read most of this list!

I loved The Help so much that I started a DonorsChoose project to get books for my high school students to read!

I agree about Water For Elephants and Girl With a Dragon Tatoo...entertaining, but not the amazing reads that some people say.

I just finished A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini. I teach Kite Runner and love it, but hadn't read this one.  I cried my eyes out and even had a nightmare, but it was an excellent read about women in Afghanistan.

I also just read Matterhorn about the Vietnam War.  It wasn't "fun" but I learned so much.  We never got to Vietnam in my history classes.

So I'm still not sure what to read next...maybe I'll do get The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest...

Frog E.    March 31, 2012   NYC, wedding in LA

I'm reading Lunch in Paris: A Love Story, with Recipes by Elizabeth Bard; it's her story about how she moved to Paris to be with the man she eventually married, interspersed with recipes.  I thought it would just be a super fluffy enjoyable read (not that there's anything wrong with that) but she's also pretty frank about her issues about being in an international/intercultural relationship, and with marriage.

I've also got the Franzen's Freedom on my desk at work (snagged from the office book swap) but am somewhat daunted by the prospect of actually lugging it home and reading it.

I tried "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" but I couldn't get past the first few pages.

Just finished Stephen Hawking's "A Briefer History of Time," didn't even attempt the original!  Just started reading J.R. Ward's series!

For anyone reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, the movie is spectacular... subtitles and all!  I'm not sure if I'm looking forward to the American version or not :/
